Default starter longevity

sis just got a new 18 impreza sport with stop-start tech, i mentioned it can be turned off but she "thinks" her standard warranty covers most everything for a long time. read the warranty + guessing starter may be a wear item + not covered, any input is appreciated

Purely from an engineering standpoint, the starter should have been designed to meet a certain number of start-stop cycles (low cycle fatigue) factoring in a 'typical' duty cycle. Methinks the questions are the quality of the design and validation testing, and how the driving your sister will be doing compares to the design duty cycle.

Not sure on whether it's a warranty item, but I would be surprised if it was not.

To the best of my knowledge Stop/Start is not available on US models yet. It is supposed to be on the 2019 Forester - Maybe sis lives outside US?

Regardless it should be covered 3/36 and maybe even under emission warranty. If she has an SAS Gold Plan she would be covered longer.
