i wonder why? price, and they got all crazy with the all the subtypes? I love these sports cars though. maybe they oughta sell the mid engine for awhile then in 10 years or something come back with a special edition front engine. the current platform should be good on 10 years (it's a really solid one i assume) but by then it could be all electric.

I dunno. either way they're both pretty neat. like the viper though, nothing like a cool front engine sports car. Not saying a vette can't be mid, but it's neat to stick to the classic designs sometimes i think.

Hell, there probably already is one. They're just waiting for after the official release date.
I am going to say there will be a team that has a the parts laid to add a blower withing the first few hours.

And apparently a few hours after that the first production C8 with a bent frame will be born, probably on a dyno.

I hope some rental company gets these and we can treat them like they did the early cobra's, rent a' racer.

Probably more reasons too that I can't think of...

I've been hearing rumblings about body gap issues on the C7s as well.

Uhhhhh auto sales make up some rediculous majority of the sales already.

As cool as LS's are, the DOHC flat plane crank 5.5L sounds much more exciting, especially with twin turbos

The side intakes are a bit cartoonish but the biggest change people won't like is the DOHC engine.

Remember when the Audi R8 was supposed to undercut 911 prices and then turned out to be $110K?

At what, 4 times the (supposed) price? I think I'd get over it.

Nevermind. Apparently it's the new corvette motor you're talking about.

I was under the impression they were going to put an LS motor into these. I think that may be a mistake.

There's been talk of a mid-engine Corbette since the C6.

Is that Robert Kraft driving the prototype?

Happy ending guaranteed. Not sure if Full_Clip would enjoy a happy ending involving Robert Craft though.

Probably because whatever manual box they put in it would die from the torque output. You'd be changing sychros, gears and clutchs all the time if it follows the trend of american V8s. Ppl don't even care unless it's minimum 700hp now it seems.

The rumor is that the base model will be an LS, higher up models will get n/a and turbo DOHC V8s.

I wouldn't be surprised to see all models be DOHC in the future, since there's plenty of room for the heads now that the engine is in the middle.

I'm totally ok with a DCT. It's the standard in this class.

I specifically want a DCT in my next car, so this immediately jumps onto the list.

Clutch jobs on a mid engine car like this would be EXPENSIVE so be glad its not manual

Some renders from a website.

Looks not bad... if only the front could look a little less Corvette-y.

The last 30 or so years of sales point to a trend: bad knees.

Anyone remember when everyone praised the C5 for having such a driver-friendly polar moment with it's rear mounted transaxle and front engine resulting in a very stable platform?

Pepperidge Farms remembers.

Might also be a price point and packaging problem.

They're starting from scratch, so why not just go straight for a dual clutch and completely skip making another transmission?
