Default 2008 WRX - P0018 + Rough Idle

Update: broken again.

Fixed it. Broken screen in the AVCS banjo bolt

So yesterday driving home from work my car started idling terribly. Haven't had any issues before this happening.

Cylinder roughness in cyl 4 got up to low 40s. Definitely misfiring.

Any ideas? I've replaced the air filter (lol) and cleaned the MAF sensor. I thought it might be bad gas so I filled up the tank. Haven't really driven it much since but does seem to drive fine when not idling.

Glad to hear you fixed the issue. I recommend everyone remove them, they're pretty much useless if you regularly change your oil and take care of your car.

So I spoke too soon. I went ahead and replaced the OCV and changed the oil. Sadly, I donít remember the code it threw. Probably the same one. But drove great.

The AVCS started working fine with the left side going up and down as it should. At exactly 100 miles later I threw a P2092. Car still seems to run fine. I cleared the code and hoped for the best and checked the wiring.

Today, 20 miles later, I threw a P0021.

I went out, test drive, and looked at the live data and the left avcs was sitting at 0 the whole time. So Iím thinking itís either the wiring or the OCV (admittedly I bought the 23 dollar one off RockAuto).

Iím going to go ahead and switch the OCV side to side. Hopefully the right side will stop working, and I learn a lesson about cheap parts. Otherwise Iíll be looking into the wiring.

Well I went out and switched them. Right side stopped working, left started working. What are the odds the wiring caused my new, but cheap, OCV to go bad? Was planning on buying an OEM Part this time. Hopefully itís not killing them
