Post Maximum miles per gallon?

I am breaking in an Impreza RS 2.5 and it has just over 1200 miles on it. I checked the gas mileage on a recent 400 mile trip and was pleased to get a little over 28 miles per gallon. This was mostly high speed, few stops, level ground, and dry conditions. Is this about what other Impreza drivers are seeing?

Yes, that is the average reported hwy MPG. And then the average city 23MPG. FYI: There are a ton of threads on this too if you're interested in different driving conditions / climate, driving habits.

I've gotten 30-32mpg on the highway with my k&n filter installed. Before that the most I got was 26-28 on the highway.

when I first got mine on the hwy I was getting around 28. Now in the winter especially when it snows my mileage drops big time I think it has something to do with the way I have fun in the snow.

Thumbs up

I have a 94 impreza manual "L" model and I get about 30 mpg no matter if I do straight highway, or traveling to and from work. This is with generic air filters etc, I'm giong to get the better air filter next time to see if it increases my MPG. I will keep you all posted.

It's a diesel

I get 23 all day long in my 2000 couple (5 Sp). That is mostly around town and I drive the **** out of it.

On a long highway cruise I will consistently get 30-31.

These two numbers have been the same since 5000 miles. 33000 now.

I drive hard and have a very open intake. 17-18mpg on the streets, 28-29 on the highway at 75 mph for hours.

In my '90 Legacy LS AWD, i've gotten a max of 27.4 mpg on a 360 mile trip. That's with only a K&N filter and a drilled airbox as mods go.

The 1st gen. AWD legacies didn't get the best milage because most of them had 4.11s and weren't exactly built as solid as the newer subies.

I think if i had the 3.90s in my car i'd be able to get 30mpg easy.

Actually my '91 AWD L wagon auto had the 4.11s. I did hit 32 alot, but the car didn't come with A/C. I had Amsoil lubes and filters... traditional ATF.

My '93 5spd L AWD will hit 29 during the summer. Again, amsoil lubes and filters...

My '95 LSi has gotten 27 this winter. This is with amsoil lubes and filters. I haven't changed the ATF to synthetic yet.

some of you people make me sick!! haha =P

I'm having trouble breaking the 20mpg barrier...even after long freeway trips...but then again...I almost always shift past 5k...and i'm always over 4k...even on the freeway...hehe
