Question Who's actually gotten a dealer that allows a downpayment/reserve for the STI??

I've contacted my local subaru dealerships and SOA's customer service line. None of them have any information on the STI except that it's coming out in the summer and that they are not accepting any downpayment to guarantee MSRP because they have no information on pricing. I think I've seen some people saying they were successful in getting a downpayment and/or pricing on the STI. What gives? Apparantly SOA has not officially disclosed information to any dealership, so why are some dealers quick to offer guarantees and/or pricing info.

If people have been successful in getting a base MSRP and a waiting list, can you give me information on those dealers, I would like to call them and have a quick chat.

I am putting $500 down for an STI tomorrow. I have been exchanging emails with a dealer here in Virginia. As for pricing, this is what he told me exactly.

"Pricing: the last I heard form the Subaru Rep was that the car will be offered below the EVO, whatever that price actually is. That's the best info I can give you for now"

This is from Stohlman VWs/Subaru's in Vienna Virginia.
hope this helps.

Default down payment put down

A month ago 2 grand down. They would not accept 500 dollars as a down payment. Also they told me it would not go over MSRP
so it seems like a great deal so far.

deposit down at the dealer I got my WRX from, and IN WRITING, guaranteed whatever price it comes out at, no more than MSRP, and also, no more options dealer installed (I asked for floor mats, but no radio, etc..)

Just find a dealer that will, some will, some wont. One dealer near me told me I had to leave $5000 just to come in an buy it at MSRP, meaning $5K over MSRP total..I walked out laughing

I'm currenty working with two dealers, although I'm about 90% sure which is going to get my business. Currently neither is accepting deposits. The dealer that I am going with (90% sure) has an official waiting list and the management chain knows who I am and that I'm first on the list. They feel that my expressed interest is good enough to hold the slot for now. Our regional rep is going to be here on Fri with details on the car for them and it sounds like we'll do a deposit at that time. I've already offered up $500 to secure my slot and intend to agressively negotiate if they ask for more. It's just a deposit so I see no point in putting more than $500 on it. Like most of you guys/gals I'm probably the best source of info on the STI that my dealer has now. They were unaware of the announcement, press conference, or Subaru website until I called them today.
