Wink How much longer will a BD 2.5GT be legit?

Just kinda funny with all the STi mania running around today. And of course also all the rumors of a turbo Legacy, NONE of which I can afford in the next 3 years.

The BC still has cred 'coz it has a turbo, at times, but us BD guys might end up fading into the woodwork. Hell, I'm thinking cherry used WRX wagon as all these nuts bail out of the bugeye look for an STi. Step right up....

I thought that the us was still getting the old school round lights, and the new look was gona be just jap and euro? yea every one will want a new turbo legacy, but how many of you guys can afford one? i bet not too many. so unless every one wants a stock ride, and a big payment, then i bet our old school subies will be kickin it for at least another 3 to 5 years.

You know that's exactly what I was thinking last night! But that would be one monster of a job to swap!

I have to know that a more powerful Legacy isn't coming before I decide to bite the bullet and go with a WRX STi.

Peace,
Oquipah

Enjoy what you have for the time being. When you can afford a new car (über-Legacy), you can do a nice sleeper-swap if you can keep your current "old-school" Legacy. I hate to admit it, but I for sure won't be in a "Driving Performance" Subaru any time soon. But when I get there (if I'm not living in a cardboard box by then), it's going to be very fun. 300hp SUS, anyone??

It shouldn't be much more than any other swap, no? That's not to say that any swap is all that easy.

LOL yea I've been thinking the same thing. Even a WRX swap would be loverly. Or maybe it is possible for the STi turbo to bolt up to our DOHC 2.5. *shrug* who knows? No cash around here for any of that for the forseeable future.

I was thinking the same thing. I've also thought about scavenging regular WRX parts to make a turbo kit. Wonder how much the 6 speed tranny is going to cost in a few years....

My next move will be either a Turbo Legacy or a STi swap. I can't see ever selling my car, it's got too much history with me at this point.

I could just go out and buy an STi, but I would feel sorta two-faced to jump the bandwagon. The STi is SWEET car, and I'd love to have one, but not at the expense of getting rid of my the Old Grey Mule.

i like the idea of constantly refreshing my car, upgrading it and making it personal, as opposed to just driving a soulless stock car. It also keeps the expenses down. In a year or two when it's swap time, I'll drop maybe 10k into my car doing the swap, and I'll save ALLOT of money as opposed to running out and buying a 32k new car. Of course, it won't have the resale value of a new car either... but thats OK with me.

So when the head gasket goes, or if I crack my block, it's swap time.

If an STi Legacy comes in the future, I'll definitly have to buy that right away!

Rest assured, Lucien, that you still have the better looking legacy . . . If there's one thing I miss about my old car, it's the looks!! You know I'll be admiring your car at the next autocross

As for the wrx turbo swap, I was contemplating the same thing before I traded with Adam. If you want any parts, let me know. I have a few of the items needed to make your turbo plans come into fruition

Anyone need a wrx turbo, intercooler, and turbo legacy crossmember?

after much contemplation ive decide with this action plan, i am going to turbo my legacy with a kit now, this will help me learn about my car and turbocharging a lot more and i will learn how to tune my car and take pride in knowing i installed my own turbo, then once the turbo legacy gets here or when the STi 2.5turbo engine is more affordable for a swap i will do that, but for now i will turbo it, have it be unique for a year, then once i blow my engine i will HOPEFULLy have enough to swap in a new one i have put so much effort(and money) into making my legacy my own with my own personal style i cant just get rid of it, i dont plan on getting rid of it for a long time. i love my legacy!
