Post new guy with numerous questions (but not yet)

went out looking for a new(er) car to replace my VW from hell, and ended up with a '94 impreza 5-speed. yes, i've been drooling over 2.5RS's since they hit the market, but still, the price isn't down to where i can afford one. so, since i needed sometihing nice and reliable, i bought the impreza since it thankfully isn't a civic. and i'm used to popping the hood and seeing flat 4 engines, so it's not that big of a shock yet.

anyways, of course mod fever is already in full swing, but i have a few tranny related questions first. are subaru clutches always very light and grabby? crusing around today was like learning to drive stick all over again, hehe. also, around 40mph, the car seems to studder ever so slightly when you're on the gas. i'm guessing it's just because the car is due for it's 90K service in about 500mi, and it just needs a tune up. also the brakes are REALLLLLLLLY squealy. worn pads, i suspect?

last question for now...anyone know of a good subaru mechanic in orlando? i've heard that for the most part subaru dealerships are pretty darn good, but if there's someone better i want to know.

<FONT face="Comic Sans MS">Well, if it has 90k on the clock, I would seriously consider replacing all the "wear" items and fluids- brake pads, wipers, coolant, all the diff oil, engine oil, tranny oil. As for the clutch... yep, Subaru clutches will make you look pretty stupid if you don't pay attention.

well, i just wanted to make sure it's me and not the clutch. then again, i'm coming off of a car with a really HEAVY racing clutch, so not having to throw my entire left leg into it is still a bit of a shock!

yep, it's going in to be serviced next week before i do anything. but those wheels and the "4 for $100" used car lot tires that are on there HAVE to go. i was driving with the windows up last night, and thought i had a bad wheel bearing, when it turns out that it's the tires making all that racket and wobbling.

even with the crappy tires, i'm really impressed with the stock suspension setup for a supposedly "cheap" car. it corners almost as flat as my VW did, even though the 'scooby hasn't been treated to the full gamut of suspension parts yet, so i can only imagine what it'll be like when i'm done with it...
