Unhappy STi dilemma...

Well, I know this is kind of a weird thing to say that it's a dilemma but... I want to get the STi (I'm competing in SCCA right now) but I want the "first year bugs" out of the way. So shall I wait a year on buying it? Then here's the other thing. Isn't the WRX going to go through a revamp in 2005??? As in body revamp? So doesn't that mean that a new one will be out then??? Haha. Man, I hate these kind of decisions. Hahaha. I put those questions out to the Subie insiders... Thanks!

Unless you buy one now, you will always say, "I'll wait till next year, those ones will be even better"

True, but I don't feel like being one of my MANY friends (9 of them) who had to take their WRX's in for tranny problems. It was under warranty, but they didn't have their cars for at least a week! You know? The hassle sometimes isn't worth it. But to tell you the truth, as much as I want the STi, I might settle for the WRX instead and mod it. Heck, I'm in Southern California and my sponsors would help me get the WRX up to speed... We'll see. Thanks for the response.

WRX getting a body revamp in 2005?

No. The WRX and the WRX STi are the same body car: the Impreza. They all get updates at the same time, along with the RS, TS and Outback Sport.

The next restyle will probably be in 2007 or beyond.

If ya got the dough, buy it. Those 'first year problems' are why you have a warranty. You're more at risk trying to get a non-STi WRX up to the same power levels and getting denied warranty coverage because of your aftermarket upgrades (should something go wrong).

Besides, if they have to keep your car a week...just beat the crap out of a rental.

i've had the same reservations about getting the STi but there are only a few systems which are untested for one and for two i'm very glad i didn't wait for the STi but bought a WRX last year.

i would have missed out on a lot of fun.
