Question SMOG - R U in denial

Just wondering if anyone has plans to pass the CA sniffer test. According to the latest CA smog laws looks like we all will be dealing with the new laws.

Effective July 1, 2003, stations in the San Francisco Bay Area Basin will be required to use a BAR-97 Emissions Inspection System (EIS) analyzer platform to conduct Smog Check inspections. Loaded-mode testing is anticipated to commence in the San Francisco Bay Area Basin 90 days later.

The distinguishing features of the Enhanced I/M program include testing on a treadmill-like device (dynamometer) that allows measurement of NOx emissions, and inspection of vehicles most likely to have high emissions at stations that perform only tests and are prohibited from performing repairs (known as Test-Only stations). Basic I/M is in place in much of the remainder of the State. The Basic program does not measure NOx emissions, and all testing can be performed at the same station that performs repairs. Table ES-1 compares the Enhanced and Basic I/M programs in more detail. The key additional elements of the Enhanced program are shown in bold. (http://www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/smogchk2/summaryF.pdf)

Don't get me wrong, my Scooby is already beyond minor mods and it's gonna take days just to remove all of the mods (up pipe, turbo, STI injector, Walbro pump, turbo back exhaust, Ecutek, etc.) If you are not keeping your original parts, I hope you have alternative plans. Anyone want to start a "smog kit" and try it out on the sniffer test? Since there are already Stage n for improving performance how about a Stage kit to pass the smog test?

Black as Midnight!!!

Wonder if you could just put a fat blocker in the exhaust to create a ton of backpressure

ALSO, dont forget, not all places still have an AWD dynomometer, so we are exempt from that test unless you go to a place with one (very un-inteligent)

There is already a thread about this somewhere, full time AWD vehicles are exempt from dyno testing, they will continue to do a sniffer test.

Well, time to move I guess... I am not worried, I don't live in one of the affected areas

I'll be registering mine in Navada next renewal so I'm not worried.
