WHITE miss my WRX :(

Default Why is there a waithing list??

i dont understand the purpose or the whole "waiting list" idea?

isnt there a philosophy for buying a car you want is not to show to much interest in so they dont mark it up or they'll give you a better price on it?

this whole waiting list is the reason for these jacked up prices.

i dunno but thats what i think let me hear you thoughts

If there were no waiting lists, there would be a mad rush to the dealerships the day they arrived, followed by abusive test drives from some potential buyers and others who just want to say they've driven the car or can't afford it. Having a waiting list ensures that those who are truly interested, (reason for deposit), are ensured a chance to check out the car and buy it if they please. If I really wanted an STi and by the time I got off work and went to the dealer, the two STis they were allocated were already sold I'd be disappointed.
Now with a deposit I know that after work I can go to the dealer and my car will be waiting for me, with no 7000rpm full boost test drves under its belt!!

Here's the REAL reason for "the list". There won't be a mad rush to the dealership to get a car. I've never heard of one in the past even before this whole markup thing started to become popular, namely with the Miata back in

This list is there so that the dealer can gauge how many people want the car.
Then, they decide how much to mark it up. They move down that list until they find the buyer willing to pay the markup.
Now, this is avoided IF you have a real contract with a deposit stating that you are buying the car at MSRP and the dealer signs that they agree to sell you such car. The list may look like it's keeping order, but it just keeps the dealers pockets full. Hey, nothing wrong with that. If there are fools that will pay more than MSRP then there are dealers who will sell it to them.
It's called capitalism.
