Question Inconsistantsies from dealer to dealer

I just got off the phone with the Central Oregon dealer and he said that there are 5-6 names on the list and they took deposits on the first few but he says Subaru made them return the deposits...***!!! I have no idea why there is the vast differences in stories from dealer to dealer. Why on earth would Subaru make them do that? I have a feeling that SOA had nothing to do with it and the upper management of that dealer didn't think that they would get very many and stopped with the whole deposit thing.

Can anyone shed some light on the lack of consistancy from dealer to dealer.

They said that once they see what is on the manifest, they will call the people in order and tell them what they are getting and when they are getting them in. After that it will be first come, first serve. Being 150 miles away, I might be at a disadvantage to the locals if they call me at 7AM and tell me it will be there later that afternoon.

The good thing is that they are only charging 2K + MSRP. I figure I can walk in with 10K and walk out with an STi at MSRP.

they took deposits, probably at MSRP, then returned them. Now they're selling whatever cars they get at a 2k markup, first come first served. And, you're thinking you can get one at 10k over, and this is ok with you?

I'd find another dealer ASAP, even if it means having it shipped to you or road tripping it home.

good luck.

Mastro Subaru in Tampa,FL is taking $1000 deposits for MSRP.

For anyone in the lower 48 you could buy from Mastro, fly to Tampa and drive home for less than the markups I'm hearing quoted on this forum! And it wouldn't bother me a bit if everyone did that, because I've already given them my deposit so I'm ahead of you in the line.

This would be a road trip home already. I have a few connections there (I hope they are still there) and will get a good deal on it.
