That is a great marketing plan for enthusiasts. Does SOA do anything like this? Maybe we could beat an STi in to the ground on the autox

I wonder if they would mind if I used the E-brake?

I don't see why - you'll probably need it for autoX. You can't do a burn-out though ... its in the rules

It was SOOOO FUN!

They had all kinds of different courses and encouraged you to beat on the cars. Especially the braking course, can you say ABS?

Also, the cars they used for the Timed runs were Mazda 6's with Eibach Springs, custom exhaust and Falken Azenis

I also got to drive a Miata and a Mazdaspeed Protege.

t'was a good time

Very cool time...my respect for Mazda as a company has gone up about 1000%. They had three "clinic" type practice tracks, including a mini autocross track to get used to the Mazda6, and another where you can drive the Mazdaspeed Protege...nice car!

Sat in the RX-8, drove a Miata (very very fun car even if I couldn't drive it with the top up ), and managed to squeeze off a 38.001 and a 37.667 for my two timed autox runs. Not bad for my very first time autocrossing (and my first time driving a FWD car hard) since the Pro driver pace was set this morning at 33.999.

Saw many WRX's in the parking lot...and said hey to a guy in a stock looking silver sedan with a VISHNU sticker (fear the Vishnu sticker )

Anyway...best Sunday I've had in a while! Now to get some autox time in the WRX :hmmm:

Yea, it was fun. I went on Saturday. The only problem was that they were running about 90 minutes behind schedule for the competition runs at the end of the day. I only got to do 1 timed run because I couldn't stay any longer.

I managed to pull off a somewhat respectable 36.6, so I wasn't terribly upset. And one of the Mazda reps gave me the keys and let me light up the dashboard on the RX-8, so that really made my day.

I went there with a buddy...saw a few subarus there..=)

all in all I'm impressed with Mazda and the Mazda 6. It's really nice to have a manufacture to bring this type of event to the public...

The 6.. I personally think it's a really nice looking car, nice interior and man, the blue color was awesome.

I ran a 36.4xx on my first run, but couldn't stick around for the 2nd run.

but great fun..=)

They were actually running ahead of schedule on Sunday, I finished 10 minutes early

I ran a 36.029 and a 36.4

It's amazing how much faster you can go when it's not your car

Thumbs down

saturday was just horrible...

those 3 "classes"???? wait about 30-40 minutes for about 1 minute behind the wheel.

the competition course? close to 1-1.5 hours running behind schedule. stupid excuse? software problems...

again less then a minute for each run. i sucked though. fastest was 39.7 seconds... i'm better at rock crawling...

and for $39, they coulda thrown in a lunch...

too much waiting in lines... grrrrrrrrrrrr

That sucks for you Saturday Guys

It was much better run on Sunday, but since Alameda was their first stop on the 15 city tour, Saturday was kinda a Beta Run.

I just can't imagine what kind of shape the cars are going to be in by August, when this thing is over.

Did anyone notice that the Brake & turn cars had less than 200 miles on them!?

I got 39.xxx for my best time. It was FUN, better than going to Great America. Especially, sitting in the yellow Mazda6 that my friend's driving in the test driving section. We got pulled over because he got excited and started to do some autocrossing there, but at least that's what other people are doing I am glad that I have chosen Sunday instead of Saturday. The line's not long at all, plus the weather's nice.

mexicanpizza,

That was me in the silver WRX with the Vishnu sticker, sorry I didn't get to talk to you more, nice car!

There were a ton of WRXs in the parking lot in addition to a bunch of other nice cars. Right outside the parking lot there was a BMW 330i with a large front mount intercooler. The best car was an Integra with what looked like a packing tape body kit at the end of the road.

The official results are now online at http://www.mazdarevitup.com . The scores are all normalized out of 1000 points, mine was a 575 (36.5s).

And since this thread would suck without pictures...
