Default CEL fix not working for cat ineff.

hey, ive had brullen headers in my car since midsummer. after they were in the CEl came on so a few days later i put the CEL fix in that came with the headers ( i got them from ionperformance). the CEL was still on and has been on and im sure i put it in right and i had my friend who is an electrician pull it apart to make sure everything was soddered and stuff and they were ok. i just had left it in and still a CEL, but when i had my tranny rebuilt at the dealer last week they said that the CEL was from a disconnected o2 sensor..like the wire wasnt connected right and it was broken or something. i got the car home the CEL fix was still there and all conected so i just took it out and connected the o2 sensor without it. ofcourse the CEL came back on, but what am i to do now...its been 8 months with this gleaming orange in my eye and im not pulling the bulb out beucase i would like to know if something really goes wrong. im short on cash and dont now how much the CEL fix costs, but mine never worked in teh first place, do you guys think ion performance will give me another one becuase this couldve been faulty? all i know is it has been like this and never worked right and i angers me to see that light on, im sure you all have either experienced it adn agree or can imagine..very annoying...anyways thanx in advance, and id appreciate some feedback
John

Do try getting help from ionperformance; Jack seems like a forthcoming vendor. Maybe a resistor is out of spec, or has rattled loose and you need a replacement CEL fix. Does your header have the relocated front 02 sensor, closer to the cat? It should, since you got it after the first wave of them came out. If not, maybe moving it would help.

It took 1000 km before my Brullen header (with the old O2 sensor position) threw the P-0420 code last weekend, and only 'cause I hit a deadend on a narrow lane and backed up 1/4 mile through 8" of snow. Guess I got lucky and my ECU isn't one of the picky ones.

As I recall, there was a batch of Ion's CEL fixes that didn't work properly... I would bet that yours is one of them .

i'm under the impression that in general thesse cel fixes are only effective about 60% of the time
