Default Salvage WRX repair questions

I was thinking about buying and repairing a salvage WRX that was rolled, but there are appears to be no frame damage and the engine is perfect. How hard would it be to replace both the fenders, the front bumper, and the roof panel? Also if the car was dragged about 30 feet while in gear would the tranny and center differential be ruined? Thanks.

haha..jeez, that wrx sounds like it was totally jacked.

if I were you I wouldn't bother, it wouldn't be worth all the time and money in my eyes, especially with 02-03 wrxs going rather affordably with the new style coming out...

what you want to do is entirely possible, and financially plausable if you are in the right position to buy parts and do the body work.
the roof panel will most likely be the most difficult part, and there are bodyshops that specialize in rebuilding totalled vehicles. Most likley (because i cant see the car) you will need to buy a new roof skin, the bodyshop will cut the old one off, fix the pillars and slap on the new skin. The front end body damage is really not a big deal at all I would worry about the drivetrain if the car was dragged, but i would check it out if you have the chance before you buy the car (most of the time it is a as-is sale, so good luck)

Many people think rebuilding cars is a bad idea, but you would be surprised at what kinds of things the insurance companies deem as "salvage", and many cars can be had for very cheap (especially at auction) and rebuilt for a little more.
