Question Oil drain plug size...

I know what you guys are thinking. I'm not asking about the stock drain plug size. I know it's 17mm. I have the performance gauge pack with the oil sensor for the oil temp and the drain plug is a lot bigger than 17mm and all I have to fit it is a crescent wrench. You know the old saying, "Use the right tool for the right job" Well, that's my goal. This question was posed on an earlier post and the person was told 17mm. I know that's not right. I asked the question on another post and got no answer. Does anyone know?

I have the performance gauage pack installed on my MY00 and yesterday was changing my oil and forgot about the whole "bigger than 17mm plug". So I looked at it some more and decided to use a big C clamp pliers. That's all it took. I'd guess it was around 21mm. The biggest problem was that with the electrical cord coming out of the drain plug, I couldn't fit anything over it. Thus using pliers.

Is bigger than yours.

Gee. My 19mm socket is the one that's always got oil in it...

Edit: From a different car. The Subie is 17 for sure.

I think you would be better off starting a new thread and reposting your question, and possibly a little clearer. This is a pretty old thread you brought back that is only slightly related. You might try Sugar at Troncalli Subaru, she can get a lot of OEM stuff. Or try your own local dealer.

I did a quick search on Dogpile and found this site. Maybe they can help.
