Default Window Chip: Bad to drive with small chip?

Ok.. this was the first time this has happened to me, and it wasn't behind a rock truck like I thought it would be. It was on a place where rock trucks pull out though. Slow 45mph rock hit the windshield in the bottom center and put a fairly good nick in the window. I have already put a claim in to have it fixed on Monday.

The question: DO i need to worry about it spidering driving the 200 miles I need to trip this weekend or not?

Thanks in advance. I can supply further info if needed. I know this is a common problem, but I was hoping I would never have to worry about it. Oh well

Preston Fix-A-Windshield!!!

GOOD STUFF!!!!!! Cheaper than getting a new windshield and it takes about 15 minutes to do.

But you shouldn't worry about driving like it sits though..

Thanks. I am more worried about doing more damage that what is there. I am already covered for free by insurance to, so I am not worried about fixing it myself. I would rather want the professionals do it correct the first time.

You won't hurt it anymore than the pro's can fix... if it's a large crack then they have to replace the glass so there's not harm there.. It's nothing to worry about. If they're fixing it in two weeks you'll be fine.. don't sweat it...

I have about 6 chips in my windshield. 1 of them is a chip/crack and none of them have gotton any bigger after 1000's of miles. I should get them fixed if I wanted to pay my deductable.

I got two small chips in five minutes of each other. Call your insurance company. They will usually send out a person to fix them for free. Mine did,. They would rather pay for the quick fix rather than a whole new windscreen. The fix usually consists of them using a drill to dimple the chip and then they inject the chip/crack with a material. It won't make the chip go away 100%, you may still be able to see it at certain angles but they say it prevents it from getting larger. My two survived 2 winters w/ no problems.
