Smile Going out in the SVX...

Went to the theater last night with my wife and another couple in the SVX- I dunno how we ended up taking my car, with me driving since I was the only one with a coupe in a grouping of four door appliances...
The four of us were just perfect in the SVX- a little tight in the back for a longer cruise, but this was fine for our short trip, and I was surprised that we all fit without feeling a little too cozy...we were safe, secure and speedy enroute to our destination.
One of the passengers was impressed by the power with that many people in the car. He was even more surprised to learn that the Subaru had 230 hp, and that I wasn't even pushing the car hard. Plenty of power too, even when laden down, and even at part throttle. I drive briskly most of the time, and I was really loving the pulling power of the car as we flowed by slower moving traffic with a wave of torque from the melodious flat six.
His date commented on how nice the leather was and went back to asking my wife about the past work week. They were both playing with the windows. "Window within a window." "so this part doesn't come down?" and they were both sold on the visibility. It is cool how the rear windows go down, with a power switch for the rear passengers, as many coupes do not have this feature. Nice touch.
My wife wanted me to turn down the music, which to her was thumping a little too loudly- flip down the audio cover, and exposed the CD head unit, and another "cool" was heard. Adjust the climate control a couple of degrees, keep cruising in easy conversation and suddenly, we're there. Find a killer parking spot just as someone was pulling out, ease the big coupe in, and we all get out. Lock the door, start walking, and another comment- "the dome light dims by itself, cool." Look back, and admire the giugaro lines that somehow look that much more beautiful under the reflections of the streetlights and moon...
Sometimes I forget how great this car really is, and I have a new appreciation for the great features and engineering that Subaru included in this vehicle made of steel, plastic, and glass. They have also included a soul, a strong, willing spirit in this car which comes out when we notice the details, and that is missing from most other modern vehicles. The perfect blend of luxury and sport, and a perfect chariot for our evening out- thank you Subaru.

I went out too...
Note to self: Next time, ignore the NSX.

I was able to educate a friend who was looking for a new car. He lives in a rather mountainous region and I suggested Subaru, not out of brand loyalty, but because of snow... AWD... and price. At the time we were standing next to my SVX. He started to go on about how Subaru ranked with Yugo as far as build and reliability, that Subaru did not make any good cars, etc. etc.

I asked him what he thought of my car, him:"What, your Masarati? It's sweet!"

Then I pointed out the Subaru lettering on the hubcaps.

Monday morning he is going to hit a Subaru dealership.
