Default Insurance ramifications

I'm expecting soon to go to forced induction, and though I know my warranty would be voided if I have less than 60K, what about my insurance, should I tell my agent? If i don't would I still be covered in an auto accident?

depends on your insurance carrier IIRC. State Farm will still cover you, I think. Progressive will not.

Does it raise your rate? I never bothered to tell for fear of that.

If you dont tell them, they wont cover the extra parts. Some companies allow for a set limit of aftermarket parts to be covered under policy without any special inclusion. (intended for fog light sets, body kits or the like) However if you get in a wreck you can always pull the un covered parts off the car. No problems there.

Real simple. If you haven't done it yet...call now. Ask them. Explain exactly what you are planning on doing and ask what the levels of coverage they offer are. Don't just ask for complete coverage.

My carrier(All-State), in my state(Ohio) offers me a chance to buy a rider that increases coverage of aftermarket parts. If I did an engine swap, it probably wouldn't help(wouldn't be enough to cover a whole block), but it would cover most of the aftermarket parts(in case of theft, vandalism or an accident). The policy was a noticeable increase, but not huge.

Costs will vary greatly from provider and location, so nothing anyone tells you applies unless they live in the same township and have the same provider. Just call yours.
