Default Insurance on the STi

What kind of prices are out there for the STi? Are insurance companies being kind to it?

What do you guys pay per month on one? Also state your number of points, and type of violation if any.

thanks in advance!

Might want to also ask for age of driver, location, married, etc... there are so many things that come into consideration for car insurance...

What companies did you get those rates at? Are you guys getting full coverage? what sort of annual mileage?

I did some quick internet insurance quotes for mid/high coverage (not max) driving 10,000 miles per year. I'm 26, single, clean record and I got 6-month rates ranging from 800 (GEICO, Progressive) up to $2000!!!

I thought about keeping my current car as a beater and insuring the STi as a second hobby/weekend car and limiting it to a couple thousand miles per year. Anyone got quotes on doing this instead?

Yesterday my Nationwide agent re-quoted to me a cost $360.63 per 6 months ($60.10/month and $721.26/year) against a new '04 STi. I'll be picking up my car next Saturday.

I'm 33, married, live in Northern VA, no accidents/no tix, multi car discount (3). $1K deductible, full coverage, $10K medical coverage per incident, $1M property damage.

Another thread toward this subject can be found here; http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...hreadid=373140

- Janq

EDIT: As requested I added deductible information.

$454/6 months, State Farm, >7500 miles per year (will consider going back to under 7500 miles if it turns out I do), $500 deductable collision, $100 deductable comprehensive, $250k/$500k limit liability, uninsured motorist, underinsured motorist, rental car, etc. My Miata was $296/6mo, but it was under 7500 miles per year, and the collision was a lot less since it was worth about 4-5 times less than the STi. Oh, 35 years old, married, cars & house with State Farm, 1 ticket in the last 15 years.

Who's your agent in Nova? I used to live there and had nationwide at the time, had a guy in Fairfax the rates were CHEAP......moved to CT (same cars, same ZERO pts/accidents) and my insurance went up 1K/yr....complete BS.....and even funnier was the fact that I moved from fairfax to Danbury, CT......so a population base of MILLIONS to one of 60k or something.....what a joke, had to dump nationwide

My guy is not based out of Fairfax.
I've been with Nationwide since I was in college '88-89 and my rates through the years have always been toward the low side across three states (Montg. County MD, Western MA & No.VA).

Insurance rates are based on complex formulas that do not just take into account your location. Why you got high rate qutoes I don't know, but I run most of my insurance needs (Home, Life & Auto & Corporate) through my man with Nationwide and have been very happy for years.

My insurance is ~$900/yr. thru State Farm.

My insurance went up ~$50/yr. over what I was paying on my old car (mustang cobra).

I'm single, 31, living in Cincinnati.

I'm with you. I am 22 and pay $2000 every 6 mo. for my Sti!!!

Well maybe it is because of my 2 speeding tickets and a wrecked car...(not my fault).

It's because you guys are under 25. My insurance dropped 15% every year when I turned 23, 24 and 25, now it's hovering. I currently pay $450/6 month for an Accord. Alas, a WRX will cause my insurance to jump to 800... i'm scared to think how much an STi will cause it to jump!

Also, past tickets and accidents can raise your premium, even if you are NOT at fault. Maybe not as much as if it is your fault, but they may still decide to raise it because of that.
