Default Zerosports replica intercooler splitter question

Ok I have a replica zerosports intercooler splitter from Gruppe-S
on my scooby.
One of the welds broke for some unknown reason......
I need to know what its made of so I can see if my techs can weld it...If its stainless steel Im fine if its aluminum Im screwed.....

As always, white.

Pretty sure those replicas are SS. I have one myself and it was a PITA to drill through... Didn't get mine from Gruppe-S though so I don't know.

One simple thing to try is to see if a magnet sticks to it. Unfortunately this is only conclusive if it does stick at which point its likely a ferritic stainless steel (probably type 409, which is commonly used in aftermarket auto parts). If the magnetic doesn't stick it could be aluminum or it could be a non-magnetic (probably austenitic) stainless steel (likely type 304 since its also very common).

You really should be able to gage it off the weight though. An aluminum piece that size should be VERY light.
