Default 1 set of tires he says!

Found this in the Washington Post Online, Warren Brown does the test drives and reviews for the Post:

Derwood, Md.: A question about Sunday's review of the Subaru Impreza WRX STi, Simply Fast (Post, Aug. 3): How many sets of tires did you burn through?

Warren Brown: Dear Derwood:
Funny question, but excellent point.
As you know, but many of our chattrers don't, cars such as the Subaru WRX STi and Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution run on low-aspect ratio, high-performance tires. These tires are great for raising hell on the track, taking corners and all of that. But they are expensive, about $300 per shoe; and they are lousy, absolutely lousy for longterm wear. You should know this whenever you are buying a high-performance car.
Ahm, Subaru is replaciung the tires on the recently tested STi. One set, Derwood. I went through one set.

It's pretty easy to overdrive, overheat, chunk and destroy a new set of full tread street tires on the track.
