Default So my work installed tracking devices...

Now, if I have to walk away from my computer, I have to explain to it WHY I am walking away.

I don't understand Rick, you just had a smoke 3 hours ago

So here's what I don't get. I have the option to choose from:
WORK
BREAK
LUNCH

As an employee I get 1x 1/2 hour lunch, and 2 x 15min breaks. I can take a whole hour, or 2 1/2's. Being a smoker, I shoot for the 1/2, 15 and 15.

We don't have to put down that we went to bathroom, just go. And due to security we don't have phones at our desks. So if you need to make a call go to the managers desk or a hallway phone.

And my point - if I work for an hour on the hardest case we've ever seen, I am not allowed to take 3 minutes to go out and smoke, but.. I can go make a 20 minute phone call??

This is really starting to give me a headache.

That would be enough motivation for me to start looking for a new job. What a disgusting way to treat employees.

I'm serious.

When I log onto my computer a scrfeen comes up asking what function I am working. I click on ACDV, and it starts a clock. When it's time for me to go smoke, I have to open that window, Exit ACDV, Click BREAK, and another clock starts. I have 15 minutes to return, and change it from break to ACDV.

Later, when it's time for lunch, I change it from ACDV to LUNCH, and I have 1/2 to get back and change it again.

A report is generated at the end of the day what function I was doing and how long I did it for.

Rick, you were in ACDV for 7.5 hours, and yet you did 143 accounts. You know the goal is 20 an hour?? What happened??

Heh, that's rough, man...

I got nothin' like that here, thank god. As long as I put in 40 hours of work per week in some form or another, they don't ask questions.

I come in to work in jeans and t-shirt every day now. It's pretty tasty.

I remember about 15 years ago when I worked at McD's (jesus...was it THAT long ago?) and we had a timecard to punch in and out for breaks and crap. Then when I worked at Nintendo, I had a timecard that I had to punch in and out for lunch. I had couple of other jobs that I had to punch in and out for and they were all crap jobs. Any place that doesn't respect your ability to do your work doesn't deserve to have you employed.

Damn dude...for your line of work, that's seriously insulting. Maybe wait for this to blow over and see if it will go away, but I'd start looking for another job.

just hit work every time, including when you go home for the day. IMO, the place sounds like a sweat shop and I'd find another job ASAP.

Kubrick couldn't get the okay to use the IBM name, so he chose to shift each initial one letter to the left, alphabetically (IBM->HAL)
