Angry I Hate These SUV Drivers...

Some beotch in a RX300 just pulled out of a shopping centre next to my momz and hit her. They were both making rights, she was on the outside and she clipped my momz Legover Outback.

The damage, from what I saw it looks like just a headlight and bumper cover. Everything else (hood and drivers fender) looks like it could be bent back. I was able to re-attach her bumper (another feat for zip ties) temorarily and the same goes for the headlight.

how does this have any correlation to SUV drivers? I own 2 SUV's and have never got into any accidents with them. That's just an idiot driver who doesn't know how to drive. I don't mean to pick a fight here, but a lot of you guys talk smack about SUV drivers and how reckless they are and blah blah blah, and state general opinions, but don't knock it just because you don't own one. So then all those people in sedans that get into accidents aren't bitches? They just happen to have some kind of waiver of being a bitch because they're not in an SUV?

I hope your mom is alright, I really don't mean to pick a fight, but a lot of you fellas need to lay off being so judgemental on someone specifically for the type of car they drive or own. You may look at my nickname and say 'this idiot is really one to talk' but if you're gonna stoop to that level then, you're more ignorant than I thought.

cheers.

Ah, no hard feeling. My mom is ok btw, just a little shaken up.

Anyway, to answer you, I knew your response was comeing, that's why I titled it "these" SUV drivers. The ones I was comenting about, are these soccer moms, etc. that drive around in these SUV's, and have no idea how to control them. From what I can see, they could make do w/ a station wagon, but it's not the 'cool' thing to do. They don't go off roading, and they don't haul so much stuff, stuff that a Wagon, or in most cases a sedan would do just fine with. Quite frankly, I think their hazardous and what happened today is an example.

There are those who can and know how to drive SUVs, present company inclusive, and there are those "majority" who just can't plain drive 'em

At my dealer I watched a little old lady about 5 foot, hop into a brand new Porsche Cayenne Turbo, and I feared for everybody on the road, there is no need for huge SUV's nevermind 450hp ones.

hope you momz is ok.

Damn Soccer Moms!

Next time I may let canada drive the Trooper with the trailer on it!

mike, glad to hear your mom is ok. That is pretty frustrating, i just went through it too. some woman just backed into my girls car in a parking lot, i dont think she looked at all, plus she was on a cell phone. Ripped up the whole side of the car with the tow hitch.. suv was fine!

i think the reason the majority of suv owners choose suv's is because there is an illusion of safety with a bigger vehicle.

The SUV, for some people, is a passive-aggresive way of saying it's ok to kill someone in a small car simply because they drive a small car and it's not my fault for buying a gigantic vehicle that sucks gas and barrel rolls into on coming traffic when side-swipped. Hell, screw that guy in the Hyundai, he should have been driving a SUV or a 76 Lincoln. He deserves too die because he can't afford high insurance premiums and 10mpg. Its socialy acceptable to be socially irresponsiable.

adding to kitsune's response...

Many women who buy or drive an SUV like be high up. They say they "feel safer".
I often ask women about their new car choices, and I used to work at a Ford dealership in the earlier days of the Explorer; (lots of women buying Explorers).

I'll go out on a limb here, because I came to this conclusion. The majority (not all) of women who are SUV buyers are poor drivers to begin with. Once they get into an SUV, they feel more comfortable, which makes them even worse drivers because they pay attention even less than when they drove a car.
The original poster's mom may have been a victim of that.

You think LI drivers are bad? They cant even touch the stupidity of Queens drivers

Driving 90+ miles everyday commuting between Queens and Suffolk, you get used to it after all the crap you see on the hwy

all that i ever see driving these big SUV's are the smallest women who can barely see over the steering wheel. my mother being one of them. ive been trying to tell her to get rid of her jeep "grand" cherokee and buy a nice wagon or somtin, her jeep is getting a "grand" MPG of 12! so finally the other day my grandma just purchased a new legacy L wagon, and my mom it taking it to pittsburgh for the day but she loves it. if all of these soccer moms would give something else a try instead of feeling safe 20 feet off of the ground then there would be much less accidents in the world, especially in parking lots when they reverse

This morning: My girlfriend and I are coming back from dropping a friend off at the train station in Croton. Going through Pocantico Hills, small town, speed limit 30. We're doing 35. A--hole in Explorer with dark tint parks on our bumper. We slow down to 30--no speeding up for the a--hole. What does he do? Around a tight (20mph) right turn, he passes across a double yellow.

Nice job. Near hit us, nearly kill anyone who might have come around that corner.

It's always some guy proving his manhood in the manliest car there is: the SUV.

I just wanted to add, I was not just talking about soccor moms or female drivers specifically. Men are just as guilty for propogating the SUV trend and can be just as ignorant when it comes to driving.

It's always easy to blame SUVs, but it's actually the driver we need to be weary of. Personally, I think folks who get SUVs should be getting more training and even a stricter driving test. These are larger vehicles we are talking about, and most people don't really have the experience to treat it as such.

That's just my two cents.

Blame is a very general and undescriptive word. I prefer to use responsiablility, as in it's corporations like Ford and GM whom use falsely representive advertising for their products. Like the H2 Hummer driving across some wasteland, when the only time I see H2s are in congested traffic or on superhighways getting their 6.2mpg. And Ford with SUVs underwater getting attacked by sharks too demostrate airbags? Why don't they advertise what really happens to an SUV when it is broadsided. Japanese manufactures are just as guilty with their "premium" brands like Lexus and Acura, which are for those upper-class yuppie types who use them as status symbols.

Some people can get use out of an SUV and are aware of the vehicles driving dynamics. Most people can not. It's like back in the musclecar era. People could essentially buy race cars off the show room floor, but most of them had no idea how too handle one of those monsters. And why did Johnny teen or middle-age Harry need a car with 400HP on steel ply tires. Because they wanted it? There seems to be a general thought in America that as long as you want to do it, you have that right. Of course, don't hurt anyone while your doing it? Well, giving someone keys too 4.000lbs of momentum they can't control can get other people hurt.

People ended up getting killed because they where allowed to buy a car they did not understand. The SUV and lemmings who want to make a fashion statement or feed their superiority complex is causing the same damn problem.

(Hunts, I aggree, you can not blame an inanimate object for what people do with it. But, in a way that is even more frustrating because only people can take the blame for what people do. Yet most people are unwilling to accept that.)

I'm done with my anti-SUV tirade...Now, we dance!

Let me pitch in.

i had been a big ANTI-SUV fan for the longest time. Can not stand damn things!!!!

See no reason for anyone get one unless you REALLY go off-road! THAT IS IT! If you aint doing that there are way better alternatives: Want room = Van, Want looks = hummm any other car?, Want cool = Sports car. No real reason to get a TRUCk! yes i said truck, cuz that is what SUV is - A TRUCK! Somethign that originated from farm equipment. And that belong on the field, in the dirt. No need to have those monsters on our roads.

GET SUVs OFF THE ROADS!

It's not the vehicle that's the problem it's the demographics that drive them that is the problem. Each vehicle that is sold is specifically targeted to a certain demographic. The generally speaking the demographic that purchases SUVs is a problem on the road...no offense to Die Civic. I hate those drivers just as much as you guys...they hog the left lane, tailgate, don't use their signal and are generally inconsiderate and selfish drivers. The worst are the Range Rover drivers. They are are rich too which adds another level of self importance to the list.

Don't get me started on Range Rovers...

Day before yesterday this lady just barrels out of a parking lot nearly killing a bicyclist who was CLEARLY visible to her. This was 20 feet in front of me. I start yelling at her to stop, he starts yelling at her to stop. The guy has to make a controlled crash to save himself. She drives off. She MIGHT have given the guy the finger, too, or maybe she was just waving. :-)

The vehicle? The latest fashionable mini-Rover.

5 minutes down the road, I see her. Sitting on a bench with her kid drinking a soda...and pretty calm for nearly having killed someone.
