Post I Just saw Ten WRXs Test Driving Through my Town!!!!!!

They were all silver and blue and look exactly like the Japanese model. I was absolutely shocked when I saw this funny looking round headlighty poking out from behind the fender of a car at this stoplight. Then the light turned and sure enough it was a brand spanking new LHD WRX! I almost jumped out of my window exclaiming "Where did you get your car!?!?!" people were looking at me funny so I went on and they just kept coming. This is is Savannah GAs beautiful historic downtown filled with squares that you have to drive around so I got a lot of good slow views. One was stopped next to me 69 style in traffic and there was this Japanese fellow driving and a younger american riding passenger. I gave the sign for roll down your window and the driver looked at me kind of scared. The american explained to him what I mean and traffic is honking at me by now. He rolls down the window and I say "testing the new Impreza eh?" He said "Yep, it will be out in March" I told him I was going to buy one and then let out a blurt of my loud ass lowered eclipse and was on my way. He seemed really excited about it and I told him that I was going to get one and he said " good for you!" I then went to the ATM machine that happened to be one the same street that they were driving down and I saw a few stragglers pass two feet away at 5 miles an hour while I gawked at them. I saw a blue one at a stop sign with a black neon behind it and I started laughing out loud. There is no resemblance. The neon looked like a cheap piece with some circle lights thrown on. The impreza is much wider and the light sit about 3 inches lower on the body than the neon and they look a HELL of a lot meaner. The side of this car in person looks excellent and the front is looking better especially with that beautiful blue paint. Sign me up!! Now if I had only been smart enough to ask the guy in the blue one how much it's gonna cost and how much horespower it is going to have, sorry yall. Oh.....they all had New Jersey Manufacture plates and no spoilers.

Wow, you are possibly the luckiest guy ever. Not only did you get to see a whole gaggle of new Imprezas, you live in Savannah, GA (I love the place like no other). Talk about jealousy... I can only be more envious of rsquire and his 22B ownership....

Oh-oh - many questions have I:

1. Did they have the HID lamps?
2. What style seat did you see in the interior?
3. Any wagons?
4. Was the blue light or dark?
5. Were they all the exact same model, or did any have exterior options?
6. Dual-tip tail pipe, or single?
7. Were the foglights covered, or exposed?

That's funny that you scared the Japanese guy. Maybe's he's calling up SOJ saying, "Get those yanks an STi version. Quick! They're desperate."

These cars are for the "long lead" press launch. I have a friend attending it. They are all US spec cars (without rear spoilers I believe).

Okay I am trying to remember what they looked like in detail. The fog lights were exposed and the lights did not appear to be the HID ones. I could not see the inside of any of them as I was using the ATM with a line behind me and a card in the damn thing when one drove by me while I was on foot. So I could not run out into the road and look. There were two tailpipes if I remember right and no exterior options including no spoiler. The blue color was pretty light. Not dark like the MY00 RS blue, more like the classic rally blue but a little more brilliant and deeper than those. It is the same blue that I have seen on most Jap pics. I did not see any wagons. I do not think these cars were visiting Panoz as this took place about two miles from his house and they went on to the highway that led to South Carolina. I actually followed a few of them, specifically one with two old(er) ladies driving it and they were stopped trying to figure out which direction to go. Then they decided and headed for the bridge that goes to SC. I had to get to class so I did not follow the train as much as I wanted to though.

Wow!!! Did you notice other people checking out the cars too?? Did it look 'tough?' I was really afraid of those bug-eyes, but maybe just have to see it in person. Just wait until the american public finds out what the heck WRX stands for- that is so awesome!!! Wish I could have been there!!!

17 inch wheels or 16? The euros and ozzies are getting 17 inchers, but in Japan the car comes with 16 inch wheels. (With all of our potholes and rough roads I imagine we'd see the 16 inchers)

Georgians, keep your cameras with you

PS: HID is going to be a $600-$700 factory option on New Beetles starting soon:

I was speaking with a subaru aftermarket manufacture and he was telling me along with testing the car they were fitting aftermarket parts on it to test as well.I was sworn to a code of silence but they're some neat stuff coming out for it.
I will just dangle the carrot out for now..
sorry guys..but I will tell you I will be getting a new one .

I think that the NA WRX will get 17 inchers. Perhaps the non-WRX will only get 16.
