Cool STi Version 6 Swap

Hey everyone, My goal is to make my car as much like an STi Version 6 as possible, i want to have a WRX motor in it and STi drivetrain for sure but i plan to move to California in a couple of years and am not sure if i can put a JDM WRX motor in and have it be legal...im pretty sure a US WRX motor will be fine but if i can use an STi Version 6 motor that would be preferable!

I have also thought about just buying an STi Version 6 if it could work out to get one shipped over here and it would be CA legal...otherswise i may end up just building my car to be as much like it as possible and keep it CA legal...I have found some Version 6's for sale on the web. It would be awesome to step out of a RHD JDM vehicle too!

What do u guyz think?

Also where can i find smashed up JDM cars?

If you use a US WRX motor you will be able to get it smogged in CA. You will have serious issues with getting it registered the first time. You almost certainly will not be able to get a JDM motor car registered. If you mod the exhaust at all, you probably aren't going to be able to pass the referee.

This site http://www.arb.ca.gov/ has all the info about smog stuff. If you are talking about moving in a few years, mod away and then sell the car before you move. It will be a hell of a lot easier.

The guys in the BAIC will be able to answer a lot of questions about doing engine swaps and passing smog.
