Post Please Help, Must Read!

I live in PA, i am 19 years old and have managed to rack up 4 points for speding tickets. Sunday night I got pulled over on a state road going 84 in a 55, 29mph over! I know i know, slow down, PA has a 6 point limit and then they start to do things like take away your license and make you take tests. Does anyone one know EXACTLY what the state will do to me?

Well, you're 19 already so you have a full license, right? If so that means you're an adult and all bets are off. It doesn't matter if you're 19 or 49.

I got a few speeding and reckless tix before I turned 18, and I had to go through the whole new driver process to get my license back.

Check out PennDOTs web site for the rules.

You need a lawyer I have 1,800 dollars worth of lawyer bills so far to keep my license and I still have at least 4 more court dates if all goes well and up to eight if thing go less than perfect. But trust me fight till the end. The lawyer bill far out weight how disabling not having a car will be. Never mind how much your insurance will raise even once you get it back. And before it's all over get it through your head drive the speed limit and have fun at events where it's legal. I drive like an old woman every where. It's actually quite soothing.

Been in your situation before, but it's been a while so things could have changed. I used to live in PA. NE Philli then Murrysville (parents live in Penn Twp). By time I was twenty I had managed to rack up 11 points. With 12 points you loose your license for a year automatically. Anything over 9 points and you have to take the special class and test to keep your license. The class is kinda weird a 50/50 mix of young speeders and old geezers. After you take the class and pass the written test they knock off half your points. You loose 1 point each year of having a clean driving record. You could try to fight it with a lawyer, but most likely the judge will just reduce your fine not the points. I think it's 1 point for every 5 miles over, so you're looking at 3 points. You don't have to worry much about the state (yet), but you should be worried about your insurence I think they can drop if you have over 6 points. At a minimum expect your premiums to go up big time when it's time to renew. Was the cop a state or local cop. If you try to fight it you can get off if the cop doesn't show up, which is much more likely if it was a statey. Was this on 22 or the parkway? Radar, vascar, laser or ???

Man you must be a cop magnet! I actually used to change my state drivers license. Since getting my first license I've rotated my license out for a new state one every few years. I've had a CA license, FL license, VA license, MD license and now a NY license. It's great when they get into court and they only see you're driving record for that state. You can get out of court with nothing but a PBJ. Then again mearly changing it won't help your situation.
