Default To all Outback owners, buying a 98 Outback, what should I focus on?

Hello all

I am in Canada.

Now I am going to buy a 98 Outback around $11000 CAD with about 220K km on it

My question is:

Does it worth $11000 CAD?

What (or which part) should I focus on?
i.e. any place in / on the car I should check?

Also for 98 Outback, are there any recalls or any weak points that I have to pay attention to?

Or anymore suggestions I have to look at?

Thanks very very much.

Head over to the Legacy forum and search for leaky head gasket. That's about the only major problem area with these cars that I know of.

The usual problems are front oil seals that fail, requiring removal of the timing belt to get to them, and the "piston slap" problem which has led to many short-block replacements. There was a recall for the brake master cylinder. Ask to see the service records of the car. You can surf and look up service bulletins for that model.

My own 98 OB is running fine, at about 70Kmi. This morning I will load it with camping gear, drive to an orchard in Indiana, and party for the weekend with my fellow Chile-Heads.
