Talking Alternative to a Bra...

Hey Peeps...
I know not too long ago there was a post for other materials that can be put on the front of the RS without the hassle of the bra. First, I couldn't find the post. Second, I am going to paint my car: bumper, hood and fenders because of all the damn rocks and pebbles from the highway resulting in some frustrating chips, nicks, and scrapes. It's not going to cost cheap for the repair so I need to make sure I don't have to paint it again, at least not for the same reason.

Anyone can help? I thought I had read one time of some clear flexible fiberglass or vinyl to cover the front or something. I appreciate the infos!

I know there's a kit out for the Impreza... you have to do the search for the URL tho as I don't seem to have it handy...

It's a thick, 3M type material that goes directly on the paint and acts as a shield against rocks & "stuff"

it's not cheap...
but neither is a new paint job...

you can go to any dealership and have them put on a clear bra. i was a deatailer for lexus and had to do this all the time. it is a 3m clear tape that is cut and placed on the front of the hood, mirrors and bumper.

once its on, it will not come off very. lexus over charges on everything but it cost the customers $500. i know the materials were very expensive so it will cost you atleast $350 wherever you go but it looks great and it works great, i cant wait to do it to mine.

www.xpel.com is another one to check out. I just ordered their headlight/driving light kit.

One thing to be concerned about: I was talking to Ken Beard at Susquehanna Motorsports (you know, the light guy) and he said he used to sell an 80 mil plastic, but it insulated the lens and high wattage lights would get so hot they'd shatter.

Jon Bogert:
I have the film for the head & foglights..bought them from Scott @ www.subaruparts.com. They are great 3M's.
My concern is the clear film to cover the hood and the front bumper. I'm just half way there.

Foliatec also makes film to protect your paint. http://shop.foliatec.de/

You just have to find a vendor here in the US that carries their products. I'm having the same problem with chips and bugs, so I'm also looking for a solution.

If anyone is still interested, I ran across something in the new issue of Grassroots Motorsports.

Also, Griot's Garage carries a similar material, but in sheets. I have this on my headlights and fogs.
