Question Which car company owns which car company?

I am curious...anyone know who owns who? Is there any source that can tell me which company owns which one?

I remember Chrysler owned Lambo...but I think some Indonesian company owns them now.

VW owns Rolls/Bently but gives up the RR name to BMW at some poing in time.

Ford owns...everyone? Saab, Opel, Jaguar, Aston Martin, part of Mazda, etc.

Can anyone clue me in? It's so hard to tell these days!

GM owns SAAB(swedish for crap) and Ford owns 49% of Mazda. Ford and Volvo(swedish for bad driver) were discussing a merger and I think it went through, so America and Sweden are in deep together. GM owns Daewoo and owns 20 of Subaru, which they bought from Nissan becuase Nissan was heavily in debt. BMW owned Bentley but sold it to VW. I forget who owns Rolls Royce. Chrysler and Daimler Benz merged. Oh yeah, of course everyone knows that Ford owns Jaquar. There is a lot more to this story, but that would take forever.

Question

Is there anything left with Chrysler-Benz and Mitsu deal? They were sharing platforms but I don't know if there was any sort of cross-ownership.

BMW recently dropped Rover I believe.

There is a Honda Isuzu connection too....

Ya know I remember seeing a Jeep Grand Cherokee with a Lambo engine in it. MAN that would be intense!

Man did Audi/VW go crazy or what? They bought all kinds of nutty stuff!

From what I can tell, just about every company is involved with every other company, and it's changing all the time. Acquire this, acquire that, trade this trade that, etc...

A better (and possibly easier question) would be who ISN'T merged with someone?

I think all that is left as a "single owner" company is Porsche and Ferrari.

Well, what about Nissan? Who are they partnered with?

Lotus has changed hands several times too. And there was that Isuzu/Lotus relationship...crazy one that.

Yep, Renault bailed out Nissan last year, so they own ??%. Nissan had to give up it's shares of FHI to GM?

Yep, Porsche and Ferrari and the only "single owner" car companies I know of. Is BMW owned by someone?

Porsche maybe alone, but Ferrari has been owned by Fiat for quite some time.

And guess what, you GM-haters? GM owns 20% of Fiat. Wait until Buick gets into bed with those Modena-types! Hehhehehehe.

You missed out TVR, one of the few remaining independent British car manufacturers.

TVR create some of the most original and FAST sports cars around, like the Cerbera. Oh and they have a reputation for being highly unreliable!

Hey HomerJay... Volvo's kick ass. I'm still jonesing for another 240 turbo. Besides, you tell me what kinda car can run as long as a Volvo or as many miles.

And Ford bought the Volvo, excluding only their engine division and their truck division. Trust me on this one, I was nearly devistated to hear it.

BMW is on its own for now. Ford has shown interest in buying BMW, but nothing has happened yet to my knowledge(the family that owns BMW said they have no intention to sell).

I thought Honda was basically on its own. They are talking about sharing engines with GM in a few years(honda would get GM engine for a honda PU, hasn't been said what GM will get yet). I didn't think GM actually owned any of Honda though.
