i doubt it will always carry the boxer motor..Saab has never been known for using other peoples products..and, their turbo 4's are/were great motors.. back in the 70/80's they made incredibly strong motors, and extremly reliable, my friend has 5 of the old 900 turbos..all are over 150k miles, one nearing 300k, one over 200k, all original motors and tranny's.. and hte cars handle fairly well for their age. Saab used to use a longitudinal mounted motor with a FWD car..they can do it again with an AWD.. this is just GM's attempt to increase the Saab ownership ring.. once someone buys a Saab..they usually buy another.. im sure the AWD is just something to make them that much better than entry level BMW's, Mercedes',Lexus'...etc..
its just a reskinned WRX..they will most likely change the interior after a year or 2 to something a little more "luxury". its a very nice looking WRX with a different emblem and body, and leather seats for now.. im sure in a few years it will move away from the boxer motor...that's been mainly a Subaru thing for years and Saab has never had anyhting to do with them.
