Question Best exhaust???

What is the best exhaust for my '00 RS. And does a cat-back really make a huge difference over just a muffler on a non-turbo?

umm, there's no "best" exhaust per say (sp?), everyone has their own preference. the best size is usually 2.25" or 2.5" and get as close to the engine with it as you can for the most gains... I think the stock cat is one of the biggest places of restriction.

Default exhaust

I can speak from experience that the Brullen is one over built exhaust. That this seems indestructable. I don't have to worry about that thing falling apart. Gains from a cat-back alone, maybe 2 or 3 hp/torque. Go with a 2.25, I got the 2.5 but wished I got the 2.25. Sounds great and combined with the MRT header/cat it is more like 15hp/?torque. Good luck, Keith

MY GF has the brullen on her 2002 RS. There is Quiet, Louder, and LOUD!. She has the louder one. Its perfect, and when i installed it, it looked indestructable. It might smell like "B.O." for a few weeks after you install it. I thought it was me. I kept smelling under my arms
Good exaust, fits perfect, definate gain, and went well with the intake and perrin pully. HEADERS NEXT!...wait, what about my car

Let me phrase this as gentle as possible.
This forum has thousands upon thousands of post, one of them, maybe more of them address this issue. do a search.
With that said, here's a bone.
5-10 hp, about. Don't expect miracles, get something that sounds good, and looks good, and won't attract unwanted attention.

No exhaust that I know of will give 10hp without the headers. But if you are going to do a bolt on build of this car, you must have a freer flowing exhaust to get the benefits of other mods...And 185-190Chp is the max you will see until you add cams or other inside the engine goodies...There's this little thing called BSFC, and as mentioned, a search can bring up all the details of that as well....

Brullen is definitely built to last.

One other note, while they come in quiet, medium and loud, all volume levels perform the same and are louder than stock; the quieter they are, the more packing goes into the muffler is all.

Then, 2.5" is louder than the same volume level in a 2.25"

Also, they all come with a resonator and don't seem to drone inside the car. However, they can drone if you have a wagon, so stick with quiet if you have a wagon, and stay with 2.25" in a wagon if you don't plan to run boost. The bigger the pipe = the louder it gets.

However, the turbo will muffle the sound level, so while I had a huge 3" Brullen medium with my turbo, it was not droning or too loud at all. It was just right.
