Have a Nice Day? Spoiler "spoils" the RS I guess...

Tonight, while driving around, a girl in a car next to me yells out: "your car would be cool if it didn't have that spoiler!" So I said whatever and downshifted out of there.

I know she's entitled to her opinion, but she doesn't need to be voicing it...

Just needed to kinda vent.

I think the spoiler (stock one) looks just perfect on our car. Compliments the aggresiveness just right..

Screw that girl. It was prolly princess or someone..

Lets just take 2 seconds and invision in your head stock Impreza with our rims and scoop... WITHOUT a tail...

ok guys, lets make a big fancy aggressive front end (fog-lights, Scoops and vents etc...) and then... We'll make the back look stock... Then when the rice boys get it they can add thier Super-Wings and have Plenty of room for STICKERS!!!

Gawsh what kind of designers do they think exist???

honestly, the only car I've ever liked with a big spoiler was the Supra Turbo, and the only reason it was that damned big was so it didn't block your view out of the back window. (if you've ever driven one, you can't even see the spoiler)

if I owned an RS coupe I'd put the sedan spoiler on it... I just like the sleeper look.

hi!

ndmorespd- sounds like you are describing the Celica designers. Muste'v taken a brear while on the job.

harpy- sedan wing making a coupe looking like a sleeper, yeah, until they look at the rest of the car

I have a 99 white coupe that I'm selling cuz I got a 00 white sedan (also a 5spd) and putting the Prodrive wing on it ant the factory from the coupe back on it. You should see the sedan with the white skirts and the coupe wing! I have tried all combinations!

sorry it is so long! no coffe yet!

I think it was a dark brown POS really old Pontiac or Buick, with the smoke-tint effect on the windows. Nice and crappy. The girl matched the car.

Damn, I think the spoiler gives the RS balance dude...
PLUS, when people tailgate (especially in big-ass trucks) it completely blocks their lights. So instead of being blinded, I can drive slow enough to piss them off, and then when they pass... well, it's too bad that spoiler doesn't generate more (much-needed) downforce

The rear wing is a bit much. Everyone I know comments on it, mostly unfavorably. My favorite thing about it (other than I love its looks) is that it really does a nice job of blocking the headlight glare of cars following you. In California the average distance is about 4 feet between cars, which diminishes with speed (drafting?). The lights are blocked by the wing, especially the GM "lights on all the time" cars. The only problem with rear vision is that it is kind of hard to distinguish police cars coming up on you. I must be doing OK so far with no tickets since '79. With all the posts here about tickets, some of your wings must be blocking out the boys/girls in blue too. BTW since Subaru is kinda GM now, do we get the daytime lights soon? ...just wondering.

as a dealer rep- no subaru has no intentions of DRLs yet. thank god. but they are safer to have. and if they get em they can be disabled even GM cars.

i think peeps who can't get a solid slaming car like the RS are just J the only insults come from peeps who can't get em or don't like jap cars. and if you go fast enuff the wing does work like 80mph plus.

And I will agree, I feel far more stable over 100 in my RS than I did in my MR2 MK1!!!

My wife said the same thing. She HATES all spoilers and immediately identifies a car with a spoiler as "rice". She said the car would look great without it.

Im not a fan of wings, but the RS's is SWEET.
Actually if it werent for it, the ass end of the RS would look pretty dull. If you want , show your wife a pic of the impreza L's ass.. no wing/dull looking.

ImprezaRS2000...

Get real man. You are probably on of those people who make fun of "rice boys" for putting huge spoilers on their civics and ludes, calling them pop'tops and saying "hey, that's so big, it looks like it came off an RS!"....oh, wait. Sorry.

She was just voicing her opinion. I think it was cool of a chick to say something to a guy at a redlight about his car...even if she called it a Probe. Give her some credit.

OK, one of the reasons that stopped me from buying an RS was the rear spoiler. (BTW, I believe that is a spoiler and not a wing as a wing resembles the ones on Preludes and M3s) Anyhow, I would prefer the RS to come with a nice wing instead of a big spoiler like that.

Isn't the 98 spoiler a lower one, like the L's have? I have seen either a 97 or 98 RS like that, and it didn't look too bad.

In fact, my dad has a 95 2.2LX impreza, And I think it looks just fine!
