It already is stickied, as a link in the FAQ section at the top of this forum. Guess you didn't bother to check in there.

Default 2005 Sti poor radio reception

I bought a used 2005 Sti with stock radio with very poor radio reception. Does this whole thing about the white wire thing apply to a stock radio? I do think the windows are tinted darker than stock. Please Help.
Thanks

Sorry for the stupid question but, how exactly are you supposed to hook up the white wire to the power antenna lead if its in the harness? do you pull it out?

Glad we could help. If you have any other audio inquires please feel free to ask us.

Also, don't forget to pick up some adapter plates, wiring harnesses, etc. they'll greatly ease the install as well

Ok, dumb question, read all the posts here but i'm having a problem. I have an 03' wrx but I can't find out if the antenna is motorized. I have a power antenna connecter from the universal adapter but is this what motorizes the antenna? ANy help?

No it is not, manual only. The power wire in the harness is used for setups that do have a motorized antenna, or an antenna amplifier like the 04+ Imprezas. On your 03 you do not need to connect that wire.

This might be a silly question. I have a 07 Sti with back window tint, and I am getting terrible FM and AM reception. Should I remove the tint and put on some ceramic tint, or mess with the antenna wiring harness? I am some what confused as to which one is the better solution.

redfyve07 - I would check to make sure the antenna coaxial cable is fully plugged into the back of the radio. It is a quicker and cheaper fix than removing the tint If this does not correct the issue you may be able to pick up a inline amplifier for the signal (or your stock antenna amplifier may be bad).

I appreciate the advice Stephen. I am having the local dealer install two factory subs, one under each seat. If the coaxial cable is fully plugged in, then where could I find a inline amplifier, and where dose it need to be installed in the car?
