Question Dealer Price Quote ???'s

Hey guys, a Subaru of San Bernardino (CA) told me over the phone that they'd give me a 2000 RS sedan for $600 over invoice. According to www.edmunds.com, invoice is 17686, so that would bring the total to $18,286. He said that they don't have any in stock yet, but that he'd call when he can get one. The problem is, I can't afford that much.

-Is this a fair price? Do you guys think I could get him to go lower?

-When do the 2001/turbo's come? Maybe by then I could get a better price on the MY2000.

Thanks for all your help,

If I'm not mistaken the turbo is coming out in late 2001 as a 2002 model. From what I've seen on the board, yeah that looks like a pretty decent price.

That is a decent price, but might not be the best price you can get. That is about 3.5% above invoice. I paid 2% over for mine. As the year goes along, I imagine you will see the price go up as it becomes harder for a dealer to get one. I was out the door for about $20,000 on the nose after all taxes and fees.
I don't think the turbos will influence that price at all. Unfortunately, if you can't afford the car now, waiting won't make it more affordable Make a web-inquiry with one of the commercial sites. You will get a few calls from dealers who can get the car. They know you know invoice and will tell you their mark-up over the phone. At least then you will have a couple of bids to decide from.
Hope this helps

That's a good price. Our dealer here in Cincinnati won't sell them for less than 4.5% over invoice. That's usually about $800. *sigh* Oh well.. at least I'll have another one
