Default Taking a test drive tomorrow, need some help...

Taking a 2004 Premium Package WRX out for a test drive tomorrow....

Just so I don't look like a total retard and stall the car right off the lot, does the clutch engage low or high?

First and reverse can be difficult to operate, from what I'm hearing, any tips for making 'em work right?

Any general tips? I haven't driven an AWD car with a stick for a while.

I figure the more knowledgable about the car I look, the better the test drive will be

It's just a car with a manual tranny... you're thinking too much, don't worry about it

Lift throttle, then depress clutch, then shift, or the driveline with buck a bit.

My 04 engages rather high. Rev to 1500 and play start and stop in the lot first. AWD does not like a quick 1-2 shift like your buddy Tommy's CRX. Take the 1-2 shift slowly or you will hear and feel a thump as the rear diff expresses it's displeasure. Don't granny it, just don't try to bang shift it really quick.

Rev it to 6500 and dump it just kidding

My 04 clutch engages somewhere in the middle. When you first get in the car and before you pull out into the street, give it a little gas and let the clutch out slowly - that should give you a pretty good idea of where it engages.

Reverse can be tricky to get into, but not really a big deal. Sometimes it takes a few tries. Getting into first from a stop should not be a problem at all.

General tips? To be totally smooth with this car, you need to rev match all shifts, up and down. By rev matching upshifts I don't mean actually blipping the throttle as you would on a downshift, but rather waiting until the revs fall to the desired RPM before completing the shift. Don't just slam the shift and drop the clutch as you would on a 2wd car.

The great thing about the WRX is that if you are shifting wrong, it will let you know.
