Default Need Wheel Advice

I've got a '98 2.5 RS, and last night I had a nasty run in with a curb. Long story short, I was going about 6mph on a severly crowned road and started to slide sideways on the ice (I made a bad tire choice for my area a while back, but was sure it wouldn't hurt me too bad......) faster than I was moving forward. Hit the curb and it looks like I've warped one, possibly two wheels, and a barage of 'I told you so's' from the wife.

I've been wanting to replace them with 17's for a while, but never really had the motivation until now. Unfortunatly, cost is a major concern, I'd like to get a set of BBS Electras (they either don't make, or changed the name of these, but I digress) and new brakes to go with, but for now wheels and tires is all I can swing. She's RBP, so I want to keep gold wheels, but I don't know a whole lot about wheels in general, so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

ed: My price range is around $250/wheel, or $1k for a set.

My advise would be to send your 2 bent rims in to get re-trued and then buy some snow tires, and roll on those till spring.
Why?
Winter is still going to be around for a few months. You will have a really hard time getting 17" rims and tires that will work for you now at that price. If you get the rims re-trued and put snows on it will cost around $600.00 (ballpark figure). You will be safer from crashing and will have an opportunity to save up for rims/tires/brakes that you want, not what you would settle for.

check the rota line. u can get wheels and rubber at that price pint for the summer and be back on the 16s after they get straightened out in the winter.

I've considered getting them retrued, but it's not gonna fix the nasty curb rash, and my wife and I will be hopefully buying a house in the next couple of months which will eat all of our cash. I'll check into retrueing the 2 wheels, if it can be done for not a whole lotta money, then I'll probably go that route and just wait another year or so to replace them all.

I'm sure the wheels can be fixed I had one which was completely bent and the lip ripped out slightly cost like 140. One day later, the wheel was back on my car and it looked just brand new.

Any wheel with STi stamped on it is not cheap since they are all made by either BBS or Volks.
