Post World's worst roads

I decided to take a trip to Jamaica last spring and i totally fell in love with the island. The people and culture down there are amazing. Also, can't forget the excellent jamaican beats. The roads, however, are terrible. It appearas they haven't been repaired since the limeys left some years ago. The roads are about as narrow as a driveway. The rastafarians drive like nuts and the cops are always smoking ganja! Pot holes everywhere! Praise Jah. This is the only foreign country I've been to as of yet so does anyone know of worse roads?

Worst roads I've seen:

Luanda, Angola (Africa)- huge pot holes on the street - really bad when it rains, because you have no way of judging how deep the hole is. I have seen a car sink (yes, the whole car was under water), because the driver thought the hole was shallow.

Outside of the capital - pot holes because of land mines - and the burnt remains of cars and busses on the side of the road. Also there is really no guarantee that the roads are cleared. It is a weird feeling knowing that at any moment you can blow up.

Also if you hit someone, you better get them in the car and the hell out of there, otherwise there is a high probability that you'll be killed on the spot by the crowd.

2nd place: Romania - lots of pot holes, but the worst are the carts pulled by donkeys, without any reflectors, which have the habit to appear out of nowhere at night.

Either the 91 or the 605 freeways. Also known as "sandblast road" and "rocky road".

Do you want a new windshield? Drive on either or these roads and you can get all the cracked glass you can handle.

Worst roads? Mexico. Worst drivers? Mexico. Worst crime? Mexico. Worst smog? Mexico City.
Traffic laws in Mexico? Nonexistant.

Try driving downtown Chicago sometime... And yes, Chicago will pay for the damage up to $1000 if it is caused by a pothole in the street.

I don't know... I'm a Detroiter and was going to boast, but I REALLY think Miro's land mine-induced potholes got the Gold.

How's 'bout that Iraqi-filled highway out of Kuwait that was strafed by half the U.S. air arsenal during the Iraqi weapons practice session?

Thumbs down

Worst road? McCarthy Road in central Alaska. 52 miles long and built on a railroad bed it is about a lane and a half wide. Last time I drove it there were still railroad spikes piecing tires occasionally. Because of the quality of the road, travel is typically at or below 25 Mph. Large potholes and washboard are common place as are huge rocks and lots of wildlife.

the roads in the St. Louis area. Not that they aren't ok, but, they do construction during rush hour so traffic sucks, plus the people here feel the need to slam on the breaks for no reason. The majority of the drivers on the road here should have their license revoked, and their cars sold for scrap.
