Talking Snow Time with the Baja

Well it finally snowed in Victoria, British Colombia, Canada. After I spent about an hour helping other people get moving I was extremely happy with how my subie handled in the snow the cornering and the control were outstanding. It is such a great feeling of security when you can put some more faith in your car to get you home safe. The only thing I noticed with my Baja is that the snow seems to collect between the wheel and the frame. Anyone have some suggestions.

Spray silicone prior to snowfall in the wheel wells.

for black ice etc try some bridgestone blizzaks , I am in the same snow storm across the straight, absolutly incredible, better than studs!

I just drove back to Chicago from Michigan during the first blizzard of the year. The lake effect snow can get pretty heaving going around the bottom of Lake Michigan. I-94 has three lanes, but the left most lane wasn't plowed. I took the opportunity to test my new Baja out and went for it. It handled great, no slipping and it cut right through the slush without drifting. I easily passed other motorists on the road. I know what they were all saying too....there goes another idiot thinking that AWD makes him invulnerable to wipping out. However, I can tell you that this is the third vehicle that I've had with 4WD or AWD and it handled much better than the others.

One other trick I learned is that if you turn the wipers on high, they slap the snow off so you don't have to reach out the window and flick them (which is not always the safest thing to do while busting through drifts at 60 mph. ).

Never thought of that, RWS - windshield issue is something I always have had with all of my Subarus. Even my brand new wipers leave 5 inch wide ice track on the passenger side after a while. I think the only way to deal with this is to get a winter blade...
