Question Is Underdrive Pulley now legal for STS?

There was a thread in Feb. stating this mod was not legal for STS but the new tech bulletin has an addition for STS, "24. Pulley and belt replacement as per Street Prepared rules, Section 14.10.u". Looking at SP, the section states that, "Any accessory pulleys and belts of the same type (e.g., V-belt, serpentine) as standard may be used. This allowance applies to accessory pulleys only (e.g., alternator, water pump, power steering pump, and crankshaft drive pulleys). It does not allow replacement, modification, or substitution of pulleys, cogs, gears, or belts which are part of cam, layshaft, or ignition drive or timing systems, etc. Supercharged cars are excluded from this allowance. This does not permit replacement of integral pulley-dampener/balancer assemblies"

So is the Underdrive new legal or not? I'm not sure what exactly it does replace, is it just the alternator pulley? Enquiring minds want to know.

New Kumho 712's going on in time for the next PNW event, I'm hoping they help me gain that .5 seconds I need to catch those damn GSRs.

That's the rule that allows underdriven accessories, yes.

It was in effect for '99 when ST debuted. Then during the '00 revision / expansion it was specifically disallowed for STS and STR. Now it seems to be back.

Tony is probably pissed if he actually removed and sold his. He probably ran it anyway in STS.

I was going to say... I know several people running them and in the far future was planning on one myself. Though I'd get a black one so you'd barely be able to tell anyway.
