more general questions about my 2.5rs
K thanks all of you who are helping me out..
im going to replace the wing on my car with the stock RS wing.. can i get one at the dealership? how much does it normaly cost? does it unbolt or do i have to cut and adhere the new one?
this car has a hydrloic clutch right? the pedals kinda hard and uneven.. i think the pressure plate is worn, plus the clutch gives a little when shifting hard.. i dont know it might be normal.. this is the first AWD car ive driven..
i did something stupid wheni first test drove it, i reved it to 4500 at stop and dumped the clutch in first gear and it just LAUNCHED.. the rpms stayed at 4500 (the clutch was slipping) until i was going like 25 mph when the trans caught up.. but it LAUNCHED like no tommoro.. it was cool.. this kills the clutch hardcore huh? do any of you guys do that to get a good launch though? i hear thats the way to launch awd cars... im not sure..
now, what should i do preventative maintence wise? are there any common things that i should look for? i said before when shifting hard the rear end makes a clunk sound, andi was told that was normal...
should i change the tranny oil? the diff oil?
how often should i change spark plugs?
anything i sihoudl watch out for?
when its cold.. it kinda sounds like the exausts leaking form the engine.. anything common there?

Ok all this is on the assumption that you just got the car used (since it says 98 by yer name).
Rear spoilers are bolt on. Alot of people replace theirs with a v5/prodrive/22b/etc. wing so you might check private classifieds for somebody who has done this and wants to sell their stock wing.
Clutch - couldn't tell you what is up with clutch without knowing previous owner habits, mileage, etc. However, doing 4500 rpm launches will kill your clutch sooner or later. Reserve such launches for serious auto-x or the odd Si that gets on your nerves.
Spark plugs - pop one out and look at it. If it's a Champion brand, get your plugs replaced. It probably wouldnt hurt in any case, as decent plugs are 2 bucks apiece.
Alot of people recommend NGK platinums.

The Wing would probably cost between $300 and $500 unpainted if you got it from a dealer. I'm sure you could get it from certain online dealers for a little bit cheaper, but your best bet is to buy one used on the board. Mine should be for sale in a few days.

The Mk1 Impreza's weight distribution is right around 60% front and 40% rear. The exact percentage is maybe 1-2% off that.
