Thumbs up No parts but plenty of info (and sources) from Down Under

Well, I've returned empty-handed. A last-minute try in New Zealand and Possum Bourne resulted in nothing, primarily because they didn't have much stock on-hand. I sure can pick the times...

Anyway, I picked up almost every 4-cylinder magazine in Australia. Some are good, some are glorified versions of Import Tuner, but I have LOTS of info on Impreza stuff.

Let me know if there is any interest in the following parts:

Aussie-made coilover kits for $1100ish exchanged
IC water spray for cheap
Turbocharger upgrades for EJ20
Original body kits
Aussie-made wheels with proper offset
Carbon fiber engine dressup and heat shielding

Ask and ye shall receive. I have several email addresses and phone numbers that I would be glad to pass on to anyone who asks. I just don't want to type all of it after spending the longest Thursday (literally) of my entire life.

Take it easy.

I'm interested in the wheels. Details? (might as well see if I can take advantage of the weak AUD...)

Oh, and were those $1100 coilovers any particular brand?

Thumbs up

The AUD is trading at .56 I think, but the NZD is trading at .45...so it may actually be cheaper to buy from an NZ dealer. Just thinking out loud.

The coil overs are Fulcrum Suspensions coils...they produce all their own stuff. The Magazine has em listed at $2200 fitted. Website is www.fulcrumsuspensions.com.au, email is [email protected] They retail as well as manufacture.

Two other companies which advertise as cheaper are Lovells and Pedder's. Lovells runs $1900 fitted for a Pulsar N15 (Rex should be similar or less, as I think the Pulsar runs a multilink rear.) Pedder's runs $1900 fitted for a Hyundai Coupe. Websites are www.lovells.com.au and www.pedders.com.au.

Wheels are available from plenty of places. The only problem that I see is that the Aussies seem to love their heavy, wide chrome wheels...but some of the simpler rims look very nice. A fairly simple 16" wheels/tires deal will run $1500AU, with 17" at around $1750AU.

Websites to check out: www.tyres.com www.anzwheels.com.au www.ozzytyres.com.au www.donnellans.com.au www.speedywheels.com.au www.magwheel.com.au www.thetyrefactory.com.au

I think ANZ is the big wheeler and dealer, so to speak. Kind of like our ADR. Keep in mind that I'm not looking for anything in specific here...only vendors and manufacturers with websites. If you're willing to run up a phone tab and can wait til tommorrow, I can go through more than just one magazine and find you 20+ vendors.

Taking it easy this weekend...so you all will reap the benefits.

Advanced Vehicle Operations (AVO TurboWorld) www.avoturbo.com

These guys are big into turbochargers and extremely big into the WRX. They sell kits for other vehicles (RAV4, MX5, Swift GTi, etc) as well. All I can say about them is that they offer some absolutely killer stuff, and they've actually opened up a shop in Japan. That means a lot of good things for owners of Japanese cars.

Air Power Systems (APS) www.airpowersystems.com.au

I think these guys are in Western Australia, and they focus on turbo upgrades for the EJ20 and fully insured kits that bring the stock WRX to STi and higher power levels. Very nice.

Tony Rigoli Performance www.rigoliracing.com.au

This is the same guy that runs the "world's fastest Impreza" which runs 10s with a non-stripped interior. They do stroker kits, turbo accessories, and custom manifolds.

That's 3 companies for those of you who are really serious. I have a couple of other companies...just specify what you're looking for here and I'll look.

The Hyundai Tiburon is called the Hyundai Coupe down under, I think. Check out Pedder's, Lovell's, and the other Aussie suspension makers for a coil over kit. For turbos, try AVO. They could probably custom a turbo kit for you.

If you're looking for body kits, I think I have one or two examples for you. I thought you were only interested in engine stuff, but let me know otherwise. I think www.sickdivision.com advertises Hyundai kits. I'll have to check.

I have one or two junkyards that I found...but I don't know as to whether they'll have what you're looking for. Try www.partsplus, which is an absolutely huge "recycler." Several chains. It's at www.partsplus.com.au if you're interested. I can also locate you some engine importers if that's what you're looking at.
