Angry WRX purchase in Bay area

Just need to vent a bit...I'm a little pissed off at the experience I had at Stevens Creek Subaru. They claim to have already sold 18 WRX's, and expect up to a $20000 markup!!! The price they quoted me was $43000! BS!

When I pushed them a bit they seemed to indicate that they would sell for MSRP, but with a huge deposit and down payment. I was so pissed off at that point that I walked out.

Hey, just click here!

I've got a list of dealers with no deposit to get a place on the list (until order is placed with SOA), and no additional markup!

And im guessing that the supposed depositers have never seen the car either. Many dealers showed the people the car and it scared them off.

Hey guys - my first post on the Scooby boards.

Stevens Creek sucks. I would not buy a car there if it was the only place on earth to get it simply on principle. They think their s--t doesn't smell because of the influx of dotcom millionaires in the area willing to pay any amount of money to get the latest and hottest cars.

When the S2000 came out, a friend and I went to see it. I inquired as to placing an order for one at MSRP. The sales manager said, and I quote, that these cars will NEVER sell at MSRP because the demand is so high for them. I promptly told him that I could simply buy one in Nevada at MSRP and have it shipped to me. He didn't like that much. I'd like to know what he's selling an S2000 at now.

Hopefully with the dotcom crash, business will become a little tighter at that stealership. Unfortunately, I don't think so. There are too many people with more money than brains.

Not bad for a first post!

Hey, where's that BS flag.... We'll I'll go ahead and say it but it'll be censored

(DUH) Haha- found a way around the censor part, sorry Imprezer, I just had to say it...

Seriously though, I do belive some if not all Scooby dealers WILL charge a "market adjustment" charge for the first few months it is out. Am I going to make a deposit? NO! Not until I drive one!

Thumbs up

Ok, I went down to Carlsen Subaru in Redwood City. They don't really have much info on the WRX, but were MUCH nicer to deal with. I'm on the list without a deposit! Ah, life is good again!

My dealer (Maita Subaru) is on that list... Its the best sub dealer ive found around here (there are 4; Automall, Gold rush in Auburn, that maita dealer, and down south at Florin road) and thats where my mom got her 2000 GT Limited Sedan... Think they will give me a discount when I drive up in it?

Anyway, at Fairfield Subaru near the bay area, they were selling RS's for INVOICE price (On the WINDSHIELD no less!) cause aparently they didnt sell them that well, and wanted to get rid of them... If they still exist, that might be the place to go to!!!

Thumbs down

Stevens Crock Subaru is more like it. I can't beleive that any stealership in the world would actually be enough of a butt reamer that they would actually make you pay almost 100% over MSRP.

Hey if you are looking to buy a Subaru in the Bay Area, look to Santa Cruz Subaru. They are mod-friendly and will even carry Cobb Tuning products. Very nice folks. Unfortunately, I bought my rs at Stevens Creek, but then again, I got an awesome deal. I made them sweat a little though! hehe

ok im a little confused here.. the original poster is from Canada.. $43,000 would still only be $27000 USD (give or take).. whats up with that? or is Stevens Creek in the US ?

Hey Kewjoe, Steven's Creek is in the US. I just moved down to the Bay area from Toronto. Just forgot to change my profile.

I remember when my girlfriend decided to buy an RS. The dealer here gave us some much price inflation BS reguarding the limited production. "We cant get that color or those options..blah, blah.."
Well, we went about 20 miles away and got a much better deal on exactly what we wanted.
It was also nice that to see that the other dealer (the arse) stuck with not one but two RS's for roughly 8 months.
A white one and a black one.
The last time I checked he still had a blue 4door RS instock.
