Default Typical cost for timing-belt work?

How much do you guys pay for a dealer or shop to perform TB work? I hear somewhere around $200-300 for a labor only. I just want to get an idea so as not to surprise myself.

expect closer to 300 (or more) for the labor. You'll be hard pressed to find someone to do this for 200. I think the timing belt itself is like 70 bucks.

Wink $224

Regular price at "my" dealer is $224. Of course it does not include all the seals, tensioner and rollers... But every 105k miles it's not that bad.

Make sure to have all the belts done at the same time and maybe also the water pump if you want to be on the safe side.

I had to rebuild my shortblock. The mechanic recommended that I replace the timing belt (16k miles) with an STI belt. It cost more than stock, but was supposed to be superior. It makes more noise than the stock belt. Maybe the forged internals are part of the noise package. I trust and respect Precision Tuning in NJ so if they say it is better I believe them. WRX's are usually a 3-4 hour job. Dave's is also right the PE or STI belt is better.
