Default autometer guage question

i am on a budget and would like to buy the dual a pillar pod and some guages. planning on getting the autometer series (low cost) and sacrifice some quality and accuracy. which of the autometer series look closest to stock? the black back with green lights and red needle? and also which second guage should i get besides the boost. many say a/f is useless so should i get EGT? oil pressure? oil temperature? or just get a/f. your help would be greatly appreciated.

I think the Autometer gauges are good in terms of accuracy. I have the Phantom series boost and EGT (and clock shhhh). They seem to be as accurate and responsive as I need them to be. I can't say that I've gone and measured how accurate they are, but with everyday driving I can say that the boost and EGT are behaving like everything I've read here. The only thing I don't like about them is how they light up at night.
Check www.jegs.com for prices. And check www.autometer.com for all the kinds they make.
I don't think there is a Autometer gauge that looks like the stock gauges. (The Greddy gauge$ is probably the closest you can get.) You can do what I did and get white faced gauges and change the stock gauges to white faced.
There is alot of information if you do a search on gauges in the 2.0 litre forum.

They have a multitude of gauges. Do not leave out VDO. They are really inexpensive yet come standard in many German vehicles.
Like Porsche!
The closest look to factory is the 45mm Omori. You will pay thru your nose for them too.

im using the SportComp (?) ones with black face, silver bezel.
looks great. i also use cups instead of the pods. looks
a lot more custom installed.

Default Autometer

I've opted for the Z-Series. Plu I got one of those new Autometer center pods. So new it's not installed yet. The gauges fit real snug!
Just pick out which ones you like the best and that fit within your
By the way I'm going with Boost, EGT and oil pressure. I'll get a VDO oil pressure gauge as it goes to 150p.s.i. WRX's have high oil pressure from what I've read here.

The Sport Comps ( black face, silver bezel, orange dial ) are pretty close to stock. Only the orange dial is different from stock.

I have SPort comp boost gauge on the steering column and Phantom series gauges ( Oil Temp, EGT, Oil Pressure) in the center pod. The phantoms look good at night ( in a 70's retro way) in that they light up green just like the radio, HVAC, etc.

The Phantoms are VERY EASY TO READ in the day time too.
Orange dial on a white face and BIG numbers.

If you are modifying the engine/exhaust/chip etc, an EGT gauge is the most important. If not, OIL TEMP is very useful in that you'll know when your engine is really warmed up before you stand on it in the morning Don't let that coolant temp gauge fool you.
