Default Need to remove rear diff. protector?

So the guy who had my 2002 WRX before me got a rear diff protector. Now I'm looking for a 3 inch catback. I've heard that with the Vishnu you don't need to remove the diff protector but with most 3inch exhausts you do. Anyone know if this is true? I know you need to remove it for the Greddy EVO to fit, anyone know about the Borla Hush? I called Borla today but that guy was... less then helpfull. He didn't even know what the rear diff was.

I won't fit my BPM GT (which is 3") and it doesn't worry me.

I have a front under cross brace, like the Cusco V2 brace that filters a lot of stuff as it sits much lower than anything else under the car. Maybe this could help...
