Default Reverse Indiglo cluster gauges freaking out

I've had reverse indiglo gauges in my rex for about 6 motnhs now with no problems. However recently they will turn off randomly while i'm driving (or not even come on when i turn on my lights, or right after i start driving) and then sometimes come back on or other times not come back on till i've turned the car off (got to wherever i was going and left it for awhile). They never flicker, it's just on and off and last time i checked the wiring, they seemed fully secure (i soldered the wires, so that shouldn't be an issue anyways. Is the transformer freaking out or what?

THis happened to me once. The units aren't always the best made. Mine happened when I had the defroster running on max and probably overheated the gauge control box. They came back to normal next day.
