Post What's the power output of the new H6?

Does anyone know exactly? Also, how much heavier is it than the EJ25?

I'm not sure of the weight.. it's also listed as 20/27 MPG, in the 4-speed automatic.

Thanks. It's not at all available in a 5 speed? It would an interesting swap given it's not significantly heavier.

The main issues (beside it probably costing 5-7 grand), are that the whole thing is .8" longer - not much, but it makes thing a little tight up front, it doesn't have a flywheel yet, as it's tuned up to the TC to save weight, and - as the ECU has to communicate with the TCU, you couldn't just pull it out and drop it in an rs - there are no ECUs for H6es that ran in a 5-speed (never happened) - although maybe the SVX/RS hybrid guy could tell you how. I thin it's definitely do-able, but you might want to think about splashing out for a TECII to go with it - and a custom flywheel. Sounds like more trouble and expense than turbo, but with a definite upside in terms of durability.

Ok, the problems I forsee with the swap are not due to length. Think of the hoodline of the impreza and the fact that the top part of the motor will extend furthur forward where the hood hight is much lower.

Also no automatic I have seen uses a flywheel as there is no need. They use a flex plate which at least on the older subarus was able to switch to a flywheel with no other modifications to the motor.

Personaly I would use a EJ motor in the impreza and leave the H6 to the legacy, outback, and Forester where they have the underhood room to use it effectively.

Also don;t forget that the EJ will ALWAYS have more performace parts avalible for it.
