Post Did anybody in this board drive the new Impreza?

I wonder if there are somebody here have driven the new Impreza already.
I just watched the latest Best Motoring video featuring WRX. Every drivers were not too impressed about the new WRX and I could see how bad the understeer is on the new Impreza, especially when one driver showed how the steering has no response. The drivers said new Impreza is a good car as a sports sedan, but not so good as a performance car(like EVO6 or GC8).

I want to know a little more about the handling on the new Impreza (GDA)
If it is not that good, maybe it's worth to wait few years until the next version(GDB?).

I know two people that have driven it; both said it was a fun car.

I have been offerred a preview drive - though I'm still waiting on actual dates/details. (slaver slaver drool drool)

I was in Japan last month for business and stopped by a local Subaru dealer to test drive the new WRX. 250hp makes a big difference! The seats are nice and snug with lots of lateral support. The car had a good solid feel to it.
You can check out the pics I took of the STi version (280hp) at: http://www.oahunet.com/kalani/photo.htm

Just wanted to say your site is great. I have had it bookmarked at home and at work for several months now.
Thanks you for putting an excellent site together.

Do you mean the US version or the JDM model? I know somebody who drove the JDM version.

If anybody have an access to a Japanese video rental store, Best Motoring video December issue to a must see. It compares JDM WRX with Altezza, Accord Euro-R, Silvia spec-R, Lancer EVO6TME, Old Impreza Sti Ver6, and Legacy wagon GT-B E-tune.
Also at the end there is a clip of the Sti version in Nurbrugring
I have seen the video just yesterday and my impression is.....
It sounds like it is a better car on a street than GC8Impreza, but weaker in the circuit.

I just watched the Top gear repeat from the UK, where they said flat ot that the understeer you would expect is not there, and oversteer was easily inducable...they seemed to say that the fund factor ws definately still there, but the car had grpown up a bit, particularly around the previously "cheap" interior.

Remember, the Evo 6/7 is really only fairly compared to the Imp in STi guise......a base WRX is no match.

that's right. WRX is a base model. Even non-turbo one is WRX in Japan in the new generation Impreza. hmmm, different magazines have different opinions.... Everybody says the body is good, though. Subaru claims the new one is 250% stiffer than the old one.
