I think you are responding to a comment that was made over 3 years ago. Quite possibly the ones you are mentioning happened after March, 2004.

SOA did reply to my inquiries. they said 'next time it happens, bring it in and we'll look at it'. it didn't register with them that that's what i've been doing for 2 years now. and being a random problem means it's never happened at the dealer. subaru hasn't bothered to respond to my last emails other than reiterating 'bring it in and we'll look at it'. so i bring it in, they look at it, and do nothing. i'm sorry, but i will NEVER buy another subaru product again. and neither will anyone i know. i have never been this dissatisfied with any customer service. it's really sad too, because i still love my car! it's fantastic (as long as the cruise cable is disconnected). i just really don't understand. with all the work they've wasted looking at it, why couldn't they just replace the darn cruise control? i wouldn't even care if it was factory reconditioned. that surely would have cost less than all those man-hours lost looking for the problem. plus, i was planning on buying a legacy for my wife. and my really good friend was going to get an outback. and i certainly would have bought another wrx (or sti depending on funds) in the future. so, thanks subaru, for not caring whether or not your car kills me. your reward so far is $70k-$100 in lost sales (so far, more if i'm lucky).

rant over, i now return you to your regular programming.
So I'm a total newbie to this blog thing, please excuse my newness. I realize this is an older thread but its the right topic so here I go...

I had a little accident in my 02 WRX. It didnt stop accelerating after I took my foot off the gas pedal. I pressed the gas pedal pretty hard to get the car going during the "lag" time before the turbo kicked in. When I took my foot off the pedal the throttle stuck open, turbo kicked in and the car took off! I think the cruise control clip was already installed on my car? Looking into that. Sounds like some of you have had similar problems even after the recall fix. Can anyone shed any light on what might have happened?

How did you conclude that? I can't recall a single instance where someone's throttle became stuck wide open, regardless of whether or not they had the "fix."

sorry jon, but if you read a few of my previous posts, i *have* had my throttle stick wide open, both with and without the recall 'fix'. it's quite possibly the most dangerous thing i've come across in an automobile. and it still has not happened again since i disconnected the cruise cable from the throttle arm. the cruise recall fix had no bearing on it as all that does is secure the cable in the track. my cable was in the track and was under high tension during this occurrence. i could pull the throttle closed and it would open back up, kinda like there was a gremlin pulling on the other end of it. it would also idle at about 2k rpm. my thought so far is a short in the cruise, but no work has been done on it since. btw, it was speedway subaru and tom wood subaru in indiananpolis who took such crappy care of me. i've since found that these same guys did not bother to fully reinstall the fill hole for my rear diff, so it's got a nice dirty oil coating all over the back. they sure got the drain plug in there though. apparently it was tightened by a gorilla, which i'm sure is great for the threads. for being 'trained subaru technicians', they can't tell their a$$ from a hole in the ground. lucky me they jerked around long enough for my warranty to expire.

Hey all bumping this because I pulled my t-body off and removed the cruise control safety clip. I was stupid and didn't take a photo of exactly where it was installed, doh. I want to put the clip back exactly where it came from. Could someone take a picture of their throttle body cable connections(if you have had the recall campaign performed). I know the 02-03 were still cable throttles, not sure when subaru went to fly by wire throttle. Thanks!
