Post Good gas/Bad gas Lets hear it!

Of the major gasoline companies, who has the best quality gas for their Impreza? What experiences have you had with good and bad gas? Make sure to tell any differences between different (American) octanes.

Thumbs up

Shell. I've noticed a significant improvement in gas mileage using Shell over Mobil/Exxon. Same with Sunoco, though I get the best improvement with Shell. 87 octaine.

Here in Nor Cal, the best gas we get is Chevron,IMO. I use 89 after experimenting a bit with mileage at the other octanes.

It's funny how much gas can vary though, here Shell absolutely sucks, but I often see East Coasters favouring it. Might have something to do with our "clean air" additives.

Here where i live [halfway between Milwaukee and Chicago], Mobil is better than Shell in my 2.2l OBS... Plus the Mobil speedpass is kicka$$ for quick gas and food purchases... When I drive on Shell, I seem to actually get some hesitation when I try to pass on the highway, if that makes any sense, and my mileage is definitely noticeably better with Mobil.

I use Mobil 89, and kinda like it. Mostly due to having a speed pass. I'd like to use Shell, but can't seem to find any here in Phx.

I tend to use Mobil 93, it seems to help with gas ,mileage, even though it is expensive.

Speaking of gas,it's funny. I go to a gas 76 near my house and their gas has MTBE in it and then I go to the 76 on the other side of town and it's got ethanol. I've seen this is true for a lot of gas stations. There's a couple of chevron's that are the same way. Does it matter? Also, if I have MTBE gas in my tank and then fill the rest with ethanol, will it have any kind of effect? I guess I'll stick with Costco gas. I can get premium for the price of regular at other gas stations
